Rep just switched me from PV to regular Vision. What effect will it have?

I have an A900, and I was switched from a PV plan to the regular $15 Vision plan (she gave me that because the $15 PV plan doesnt have Picture Mail) ...to take effect in my next bill cycle (two weeks from now)

I have searched, but cannot find a definite answer on the forums for the following:

1) Will I no longer get EVDO speeds after the new cycle?

2) Will I get charged per/kb if I do use EVDO (although I'm on a regular Vision plan) speeds?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jax

1) You will still get EVDO speeds
2)No you should not get charged.
*From what I understand, the new system will not let them switch a PV phone to regular vision. I was in your position many times, only to find out that it was never switched. Finally, I spoke to retention and they went into the old system and got it to switch back.....just a heads up.

Hmm...well when I spoke with the rep...she offered the regular vision and said I just wouldnt get EVDO speeds (but I read in these forums, some people continued to get EVDO)...I'm hoping she knew what she was doing (except for the EVDO speeds part) and I'm all set.

I don't think she knew what she was doing. I wouldn't get your hopes up. When I got the A940, the same thing happened to me. Granted back then, PV hadn't even been rolled out yet but you were still forced to sign up for it. The rep who set up the account on my 940 put me on regular Vision because PV wasn't in my area yet. This SCREWED my account up beyond all belief. I finally got it fixed after two solid weeks of being on the phone with Sprint everyday, and it turned out the problems with my account were caused because the system would kick back at the rep when he/she tried to add Vision. It would throw them all kinds of errors, but they would never tell me this, I guess assuming it would go away. Well it didn't, and I got hundreds of dollars in data charges because of it. The only way to "fix" it was to add Power Vision to my line; thankfully, this is a 2nd line so it's half-price.

Adding Vision to a Power Vision phone isn't like adding Vision to a Vision phone. It takes extra steps, extra knowledge, etc. And 99% of us have only been able to KEEP grandfathered Vision by doing an ESN swap. You're talking about ADDING Vision, which I think just isn't going to pan out for you.

I would check with CS daily to monitor data charges or anything unusual.

And you WILL get Power Vision speeds if you have regular Vision on your phone. Just another thing to show she had no clue what she was talking about. And you're not the first person to have been told this, either. But it has never turned out in favor of the customer. But hey, there is a first for everything.

Yeah, apparently, as long as you're in an area that offers EVDO, you'll get the speeds, but if the area doesn't offer it, you get regular vision speeds.

Wow, so let me clarify to make sure I got this right. I've grandfathered my current plan for almost 3.5 years now because can't touch it anywhere else. I logged in two days ago and got an option to add a 3'rd phone to the account and save in the process, so bought my long-coveted A900.

Got it in today and took a few calls to get the numbers crossed over and setup right, checked out the features including a movie preview, then decided to call tonight to make sure the PV is covered by my current Vision plan. I'm told that they are not "compatible" and my currently free Vision on 3 phones is going to start at $15. Needless to say I let him know I've kept my current plan for so long to save tearing it apart, and I wasn't too anxious to do it now.

Came to get drivers to try out the modem aspect for comparison to my 4900 and find this site for the first time. It sounds like you all are saying what I suspected, that by leaving the "regular" Vision on my plan the way it is I can still use all the features of the new A900. Any feedback? Thanks for the help....kinda put a damper on my glee. :fingers:

Well, if you added the A900 as an additional line, you will be forced to get Power Vision ON THAT PHONE ONLY. There is no reason they should touch the plans on your other phones. And you should be able to get your PV half price... I think they still do that (since it's a sub-line). That's how I set up my A940.

Can you tell me when this was? When I was renegotiating my plans less then three weeks ago first I was told I had free PV on all lines. When it didn't show up correctly I was told no codes exist for free PV of any kind. Did they maybe offset it with discounts? If I have to go back to get what I was originally promised, I'd like to tell them at least one person has it.

TIA
