View Full Version : Questions about Sanyo 7500 and 9000

Right now I have an a900. :td: The phone has given me trouble like POWERING DOWN when I use an uploader, sending me to a picturemail limbo, the camera having NO ZOOM, and having the power lifespan of a AAA battery. What I would like to know is a few things about some Sanyo models (7500 and 9000) in order to figure out about which I would find suitable as my replacement.

1.The a900 has a mass storage feature, which I use to transfer wallpapers via USB. Does either of these models have such an easy time loading wallpapers from USB to the phone?

2. I know there is a big difference in screen size of the two Sanyo models, but is the 9000 even close to the clarity/size of the a900?

3. The ringtones I use for the a900 are mp4 files. Are these also compatible to these phones? Is mp4 and AAC the same thing?

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. For as long (or as short) I have been a member, I try to read/search for answers before I post, but I have not been to discover answers, so I decided to ask the experts for wisdom.

You can use aac files for ringtones. The extension is .m4a at the end of your file. You can also use plain ole' mp3 files for both phones as well. The screen is clearer on the 9000 than the 7500 and looks very nice. The 900 screen is a little clearer in my opinion but the 9000 still looks sweet. Sorry but I don't know anything about transferring files via usb cable even though I own the 7500 abd the 9000. I just send them over the air. Easier for me. I guarentee your ringtones will sound better than on the 900.....and louder.

I tried the wallpaper uploader here (focus?) and it sent it to the screensaver area (11 mb area), whereas when I upload via USB, I can send it to the photo section (47 mb area) freeing me up for mp4 ringers.

I see. Maybe one of these days i'll hook up my cable and mess around. Just seems to be more headaches than I want to deal with right now.

I had the blade, got rid of it for 7500, and now its sitting in a drawer and me using a 9000 :tu: , so, here is what I have found...
1. The a900 has a mass storage feature, which I use to transfer wallpapers via USB. Does either of these models have such an easy time loading wallpapers from USB to the phone?
The 7500 does not have the mass storage feature, you can download mp3's to it using sprints software, yes the 9000 does have mass storage feature, never tried transfering wallpapers, but I am sure it would work.
2.I know there is a big difference in screen size of the two Sanyo models, but is the 9000 even close to the clarity/size of the a900?
My uncle still has his 900 and we compared, the 9000 is a very little bit smaller, and every bit as clear, its QVGA(guess thats what it is)also. You won't be disappointed in the screen.
3.The ringtones I use for the a900 are mp4 files. Are these also compatible to these phones? Is mp4 and AAC the same thing?
Yup, same thing, works the same way on all 3 phones.

I really liked the 7500, still do, but I wanted a phone with a bigger screen and the awesome clarity and the memory card rocks :headbang2. Both are good phones, and I am not bashing the 900, awesome phone, I did not really have that many problems with mine, some, but I have just always liked the feel of a sanyo better. Hope this helped. By the way, both sanyos take better pics than the 900, and they do zoom in 1.3 megapixel mode. The close up pictures with macro are awesome.

I appreciate all the info. My trouble now is to acquire the replacement. Sprint retail wants $299 for the 7500 (less on ebay, $150-250) and $409, limited availabilty of course, for the 9000 (ebay $250-400). The a900 will sell for approx. $200-300 via ebay. I don't know if I want to take the chance online (like having no warranty/no refunds) or get poked at a store, or asking ever so nicely for retention to help (last resort).

IMO the 9000 really does beat all. im not being biased because i have the phone but the QVGA seems more powerful on the 9000 then the 900. on the 900 you can see the different colors almost not blended right. like the difference between 32bit and 16bit on your computer. right now i have this image on my 9000 http://x84.xanga.com/75ab3604c373333384925/m23155573.jpg and it look just the way it does on my 9000. like as if its on HDTV with plasma screen. theres a difference in clarity of screen. the 900 is ok i mean its nice looking and its thin but the battery life stinks, and features stink. our demo phone is the 900 and seriously im not being biased but the 9000 is one of the best phones out there and probably will stay that way for a year or 2. just like the 5600 was, and infact people still look for 5600's. you can customize the memory and download as much as you want. the one sprint guy wanted me to return my phone because of it not having much internal memory. i said to him i aint stupid. i got 17megs of internal and 512megs on external. so sorry your not getting my phone. QVGA is coming standard now but if your looking for the best screens, go with the 9000 since it has TFT QVGA. TFT is standard on laptops currently :tu:

I'm bidding on one, but am more than likely to be outbid (my max is $150 on it) and will probably try for a 9000 (I don't think I want to downgrade the screen clarity) and make my citicard people like me more. Thanx anyway!

the 9000 has a great screen, much bigger than the 7500 and very comperable to the a900 (my friend has the blade).
the mass storage function is GREAT on the 9000. you can use the USB cable to save stuff onto the mini-sd, or you can take the mini-sd out and put it in a card reader on the pc. When you plug in the USB cable to the phone it shows a menu on the screen asking how you want to use the phone (modem/mass storage/standby) and when you pick mass storage is shows up in windows as another drive. just put your images in the folder your pictures go to on the card and you can assign them as wallpapers or you can even send them to frineds via picturemail (this even works for .3g2 video files that you made on your computer, you can use them as animations or mail them out, pm me if you want more details). once its on the mini-sd you can also copy it to the phone's internal mememory if you want to clear up space on the mini-sd. it really can't be any more simple and easy to put wallpapers on it. you can put mp3's and m4a's on the mini-sd to listen to, but you cannot use them as ringers. for ringers you really do have to use an uploader. but if your using an uploader the 9000 (and the 7500 for that matter) can use m4a's just like the a900 can.

Not a problem, you won't be disappointed with the 9000. Best phone I have ever had.

Ok, trying out a new 7500 that my buddy found for me. Loaded wallpaper from an uploader - phone did NOT boot itself off. :headbang2 Picture looks ok for screen size. HOWEVER, I have had no luck trying to transfer pictures I took with the phone onto my computer via usb. The manual says to "upload" them to Sprint's site, then I can save them to my computer. Well, that sucks if I don't want to mess with the site. :td: The a900 allowed to access pictures and videos via the mass storage and usb cable. Does the 9000 allow pix and stuff to be transferred the same way (usb cable and mass storage feature OR the using the SD card) to the computer?

Cool, thanks for the info. BTW, Fry's in austin had five 9000's and wanted $260 for each but my v6 truck gets such horrible gas mileage, it may be cheaper getting one from 'shack.

:frustrate Ohhhh, my head hurts. I went to a radioshack kinda far cuz they had ONE 9000 brand new left....playing with it now. I liked the 7500 EXCEPT I have to have picture mail ($5 extra per month) in order to get the pix to my computer. ***? Why give me a friggin' usb and not allow me to put the pix on my computer??? BitPim does not help at all. Well, the 9000 does not have that problem at all transferring pictures to pc and wallpapers were easy to put on the same way (no uploader necessary). What i am going to miss is not only the aesthetic (the look) of the 7500 (not the tiny screen, though) and all the neon 3d stuff like the "searching for signal" and "calling". Anybody know another way (not bitpim, not uploading pix to sprint) to get the pix to the computer?

I also bought the A900 3 weeks ago and never had a full day of battery life and I only would make 2 15 min calls a day.. This was not acceptable so I changed to a Sanyo 7500 which I like but of course the A900 was very slim and all that. I just want some feedback on the 7500 and what I can and cannot do. So I need powervision or just vision . I got the powervision plan from Sprint which was pretty much just a given but really dont understand the advantage . I understand thier is speed advantange but have not noticed this and I know about TV, etc. but do I use it and do I HAVE to have it per Sprint.. any feedback on batteries, life, good, bad on the 7500 would be great.

I never had a problem battery-wise on the 7500, and especially not now on the 9000. My big rant here was the whole pix to pc thing. I liked the look and features of the 7500, and it felt tons more durable than the a900. About the vision services- it is NOT required, but having the picturemail ( $5 per month) will allow you to upload camera pix to the sprint site, and then download them to pc. Powervision is great if you think you'll actually go online ( I check the weather and get movie showtimes and and read some of the news) and ALSO download tunes, tones, wallpapers and games. If you don't see yourself using this stuff, you can cancel it and also tell the phone to lock the services out.

I had the A900 for a while dont know about 9000 and on the Samsung site there was soaftware so your phone would appear as a drive letter and then the upload/download was nothing more than drop and drag. Is this what you mean or am I way off here ??? thanks for the post..

I didn't need software for the a900, it worked itself out when i plugged in the usb and went to "mass storage."
