View Full Version : Treo 'Lowrider': It Actually Works!?

So, first we got pictures of just the top back corner of something that looked like an antenna-less Treo (First Pictures of Treo 'Hollywood'!?) but couldn’t really tell if they were for real or not.

Next we saw pictures of the full front and side of this presumed to be Treo ‘Lowrider’ (More Pictures of the Treo... 'Lowrider'?) but since the screen wasn’t on we couldn’t tell if the smartphone was working – in case it was just a Treo 650 whose antenna had just been chopped off.

Now we get the first pictures of this Treo ‘Lowrider’ (I’ll stick to that model for the moment) seeing it indeed working and playing streaming radio (RAAR.FM) at 160Kbps (look at the top right hand corner of the screen) with Pocket Tunes Deluxe which would evidently seem to suggest that the radio on this antenna-less Treo is working perfectly well indeed…

So is this really the anticipated new baby in the Treo family? As someone commented in my previous post, I would tend to agree that the blue colour and more ‘funky’ casing make this Treo a strong contender for the Lowrider as it makes it more appealing to a wider – non-business – consumer audience as well as more fashion-conscious European GSM users.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to categorize these pictures as part of some elaborate hoax and hopefully more information and images will surface in the coming days. For the moment the mystery continues…

Wirelessly posted (Treo 650: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/hspr-H102; Blazer/4.0) 16;320x320)

I don't buy it. It looks like a modded 650. I won't be convinced unless I see the Info screen showing version #'s.

Palm's color is molded in the plastic and is more matte. Plus look closely at the earpiece the paint seems to run.

There a thread about it at Treocentral...prevailing opinion is FAKE...I concur with that.

I don't buy it still. you can mod the OS all you want, it's still not a lowrider, it's a modded 650 and this does absolutely NOTHING to convince me otherwise. look at the damn buttons, Palm wouldn't be stupid enough to go back to those, even for a low-end model, which btw, a low end model wouldn't lack an exterior antenna nub when a higher-end version has it. that's idiotic. it's a modded 650.

I agree with everyone else that it's a modded 650.

I can't believe that anyone is dumb enough to believe that it's anything but a modded 650.

Not taking it personally... People have been looking forwad to this phone and information thats all. I don't know if it's real or not, but this phone is coming (not for SPRINT of course). :irked:
