View Full Version : Me and My 9000

YPG

So after the heart-breaking loss of My beloved 7500, I sit holding My brand new 9000 in My hands.
But alas! While LL did include a data cable, it did not include a user's manual so I am once again at a loss especially with all these new great things I can do with this phone can do.
So this evening I will be sitting in front of this wonderful super computer that could do all of these wonderful things if you all would kindly share with Me what it is I can actually do with My phone. :)

Go to Sprint.com and sign in. It will show a picture of your phone. Right next to the picture is a link that says "User's Guide". Click on that and viola your manual is now online.

especially whatever I can do with that data cable ;)
I only have the stupid 16mb card that came with it right now but I'm working on getting a bigger one
but yeah, music, movies and video sounds good to start. :)

ok, i have my phone next to me and im bored. so ill mentiong some features, CALL SCREEN. tells the person who is calling to leave you a mssg which you can hear but the caller cant. you can also place a call on hold, edit pictures from your phone, thats right from you phone. you can choose your power up and power off thone. if you choose to save your videos in your card then you will be able to record more than 30 sec.(haha, take that stupid 920). you can create playlist in your card, that way your music will be well organized. creat folder for your txt msgs, save 4 different camera settings. and that little buttom next to camera lens is for when you want to take closer pics.. like if you want to take a pic of your finger and it will come out blury, if you push the buttom up the camer will focus and your pic will be clear. a little feature i like, if you keep the volume key push in while your phone is close the flash will light up, if you release it will stay on for like 15 seconds. also our phones have voice recorder, which you can play throught the speaker. one other feature i like is the FOUND ME feature. im not sure how this works but i think you enter your a code of your choice and if you loose your phone you can text or email the code to your phone and it will erase everything or lock your phone. anyways i think you will find some more interesting things on the online manual.

*still blinking from flashlight* i knew the 83 had this, but not the 9k , just got mine saturday, after havin a a920 since dec. ok edit pics? whats that all about?

james2K

I've only noticed the bouncing when in a fringe ev-do area...it's prolly a problem with most pv phones...i just lock it to 1X when I get in that situation

you can create playlist in your card, that way your music will be well organized.

i can create folders on my a920 on the computer for the memory card, like movies, shows, dvds, and rock country comedy subfolders for each music and movies. is this the same?

By the way i was somewhere where the EV-DO reception was good and this thing litteraly flies across the internet. If anybody could help me that would be very nice. I LOVE THIS PHONE

I, like pacman, would love to be able to get images off the internet. You say "when I try and edit a pic I got off the internet" are you saying you could save pics to your phone if you didn't try to edit them or what? Let me just say I would love to able to save pix from the internet, and also be able to send these images, if anyone knows of a way to accomplish this, I'm all ears......

I wish the browser (built-in or Opera minibrowser) had an option for any link to save it to the MiniSD card. Then you'd just save to the MEDIA folder, leave the browser, navigate to the folder, and play it in Media Player

Regular browsers have a "Save Link As...", this phone has storage, so add the feature!

Are there Java apps that can do things like that on the MM-9000.

I guess at some point you give up and get a PDA phone. :lol:

"The coolest new feature, in my opinion, is download functionality, which means that you can download files to your phone using Opera Mini!"
Opera Mini 2 browser, "coming later this month!"

http://my.opera.com/eskils/blog/show.dml/211936

This could hurt Sprint Music and Video. Just go to a Web site optimized for mobile, find .mp3's and .m4a's, download them to your 2GB miniSD card and play. Good riddance to Sprint's overpriced services.

Wonder if someone knows about this.... I have the turbo button on and would like to be able to hit the button on the headset and say "contact Steve" with out having to open the phone to do it. This kind of destroys the purpose of it doesn't it? With my old phone I could hit the headset button and make a call without ever touching the phone, I just left it in the holster. Is there a way around this or is this just the way it is?

Not really sure why you're having this problem. My 9000 behaves exactly as you describe.

:thought:

Are you using the headset that came with the phone, or some other one? If it isn't the one that came with the phone, there might be some compatability issues.

I dunno...I have turbo button on for voice calls and the voice prompt comes on with the turbo button while using an aftermarket headset (Bitalk Handsfree).

Here's what I do: Hold turbo button for 2 sec. to "wake" phone out of sleep mode. Then press again and the voice prompt comes on and I can say "Contact Joe Blow" and it dials.

Voice prompt? I get a "Boink" kind of sound that prompts me to contact whoever, but only get this sound with phone open. I tried holding the button down for 2,3 seconds, and hit it again, with phone closed, still no luck. I'm also using the stock earbuds that comes with the phone. Where is this voice prompt, in settings some where? Maybe that's what I need.

That may be the case, but I haven't tried it to see if that will fix the problem.

If you haven't found the setting yet, it's under:

Menu->Settings->Sounds->Others->Voice Prompt

You may also want to check:

Menu->Settings->Others->Headset Mode->Turbo Button

to ensure that the turbo button is set for Voice Calls, and not ReadyLink, or Off.

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
