Hello all,
First post for me. Long story short. Had 6700 for 10 days. Travelling to NYC. Had to use restroom. 6700 goes for a chocolate dunk like the kid in Willy Wonka. Now the phone crapped out (both litteral and figurative). Any suggestions? Yes I have insurance, and yes I will be trying to return it on Monday. Was really wondering about saving contacts.

I think you would need to be very careful.. Esp if you are going to use something like a hairdryer... You could fry the phone. Personlly, I'd just let it air dry for a day or so...
Put in the oven with it set on the lowest setting overnight.. Then get some dessicant (the little packs you find in Electronics boxes) and put it in a plastis bag with the phone.
Whatever you do DON'T apply power untill you are SURE it's dry.
Good Luck.

ahahahahaha
how the hell do people drop phones in the toilet? holy****. I've owned phones since the nice tiny little monochromatic screen brick phone days... never plopped one in the ****ter.
how the hell.

Yeah, guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Don't laugh too hard, just may happen to you too. Thanks for the advice!

Spend money on a good holster case, or use the stock one, and buy a BT headset, that way you can minimize the risk of your 6700 going for a swim.

Just to confess, I dropped my first cell (that'd be a sanyo 4000, damn that phone was cool) in a toliet.
It worked just enough for me to convince Sprint it dun broke and got a free replacement.
I'm extra careful now...though the prospect of a repeat still haunts me. :scare:

The thought of my phone falling into any body of water gives me the willys inside. When at the lake that feeling is way worse than when at a toilet, at the lake I feel like superglueing the phone to my hand when using it.

I've lost a phone (or most of one.. battery missed the can.. ) to the toilets before.. Not a fun experience.. Luckily I could chalk it up to being intoxicated.. I learned something new, though, that night.. An 8100 fits easily down the toilet, no flushing required!! I guess it's with my goldfish now.. :p

It's good the battery fell on the dry side, don't want to toxify our waters more. If you're in a house (not apt) and would of not used any drains after dropping it it is very likly a plumber could of recovered it.

Well I'm up and running again! Lost all my contacts though. When the guy asked what was that smell, I told him I stepped in dog poo (kidding). Any help on getting my new budding contact list onto outlook. I installed but can't find it on my puter.
PEACE!

It was in a bar, unfortunately. Doubt very much that they would close that stall on my account..

If I'm not mistaken I don't think insurance covers water damage. Probably best that you say it was lost or something.

No oven or hairdryer...no heat whatsoever...
For the next person to search on "toilet"...
Put it in a bowl large enough that it can be completely covered with raw uncooked rice.
And, yes, the insurance does cover water damage.

THIS! THIS IS WHY I WAS AGAINST USING THE PHONE IN THE BATHROOM! In the Sanyo forum, people were using their phones in the toilet and I said eww. The thread was 4 o 5 pages long and everyone said I was acting silly and that I needed to learn how to crap like an adult.
SEE! If you don't use it in the toilet, it doesn't get covered in sheeeeeeeeeeeet!

how would you use it when you're going pee? you run the risk not only of dribbling on yourself, but also you don't have time (unless it takes you five minutes to pee O_o and if you're pooping then you should have no way to drop it in the toilet... unless the toilet is comically large.
I can think of zero ways you could drop it in the toilet without being an idiot.

The point of insurance is to cover "total loss" weather it be stolen, water, lost, sat on by a cow or anything.
