Is anyone having a problem with their Cardo Scala-500 and a treo 650 where when you try to use the headset you can hear the other person and they can hear you but there is a lot of static and it sounds like the call is breaking up? My old Jabra sounded better. Maybe I have a bad unit? or is there something I can check to resolve the atatic?

I also noticed that even though it said to charge 5 hours before initial use, mine charged 10 minutes and then the red light went off. I think there might be something wrong with my unit...anyone care to chime in??

I have had mine for a while and recently had complaints from the other end as far as static. My wife will not even talk to me on it any more..... :(

Are we saying that there IS static and this is not a good unit for use with the treo? Im confused.. I bought it because of all the rave reviews with the TREO and today I did some web searching and lots of people says it has too much static with the treo 650 unless its right in front...

I myself don't have a Treo but an 8300 with an adapter. I get no complaints as of yet..

this may sound funny, but try this. put the phone closer to the headset and see if that affects the static.
when i did that with my Motorola v600 a while back. i noticed it was clearer. What did that tell me? live with it and basically when the time comes get a different headset.
That's what I did. I got a different phone. Had some luck with motorola headsets but eventually stuck with no headset at all.

I bought the scala-500 based on the good reviews and when I received it there indeed was a lot of static-too much to even use it. After letting it sit unused for a while I emailed Cardo about it and they exchanged it with a new one and it works great with no static at all.

So, you had a bad headset then?

Yes, the old one sucked- the new one works perfect.

I wonder if there wan an older version of software or something. Seems that it should have been good from the get go. Mine has static when I am not using it but it has been enacted and is in that powered up but nothing going on state. Sometimes annoying but otherwise, good to go. I would be interested to see what it sounded like on a Jabra adapter even though Jabra said it wouldn't work on an 8300.

Im using it with a ppc6700 and it works great. only time i noticed static was when i went upstairs in my house with the fone downstairs. I would say it works best definitely while within at least 15 ft range with no walls to produce interference. not 30 ft as i thought i read.
on another note, I did notice that it seems a little low on the hearing volume level for me. others hear me fine on the other end!! I tried the Moto 815, 700 and 850 and all of those seemed lower in my ear volume than this one. I did see on their website that you could get an optional ear adapter from them (why they didnt include it in box??) waitin now on that.
not sure if there is a way to jack volume up on my end (tried everyting i believe including some hacks for volume)
I know it could be phone specific (my ppc6700 vs treo) why the static may be present
