I am going to be going on vacation soon and wanted to start up the phone as modem plan while I am actually out. So my question is if the speed I currently get on my phone would be the actual download speed I would get when I sign up for the phone as modem plan or if they bump it up? Right now a speed test says I am getting about 124kps which is really kinda slow for me using a laptop.
I really only wanna do this if I can surf the web at least somewhat fast.
Thanks

No, but you do get to use data compression.

Darn, the way some people talked about it their phone as modem sounds so fast. Was hoping for at least like low end dsl speed or something but I guess something is better than nothing.

Are you using PowerVision or regular vision? And is the speed you are quoting in KBytes/s or Kbits/s?

The speed is on average between 700 & 1200 kbps (kilobits per second)
That is a lot faster than dsl.
Network congestion could cause you to get lower speeds on occasion, but you get
great speed most of the time.

If you are on the 1x network whether it is because of your phone or location you will not see any increase in speed on the PAM plan. If you are able to get EDVO you will see speeds much faster than this typically between 300k and 800k for the download speed (upload will only be at about 50 - 100k same as the 1x network) They do not increase your speed when you subscribe to PAM over powervision. However a laptop use seems to use the EDVO network much more efficiently than an handset does so it will respond faster on the laptop than over the phone.

so i've been wanting to change my power vision to "phone as modem" plan; i originally started my powervision in Jan with that plan. but i switched to the $20 plan 'cause i thought i wouldn't use the modem option ... anyway the $25 plan is still on the website, but i've called Sprint a couple times now and they've told me that plan no longer exists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can anyone confirm or deny this?
