I had heard about Mobile Routers ( http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr1-router/ ) and thought that it would be fun to have one. Then I saw the price tag.

So I decided to come up with a cheaper version. :tu:

First I decided to go with a Phone as modem option as it is cheaper than an aircard (MRC and price of equipment, plus you do not need to add a line).

Then I got a data cable for my Sanyo 4920, I went with a charging data cable to keep the battery on the phone nice and charged. You can get these on ebay, or www.3gcables.com

The I picked up this 4 in 1 WiFi card/router. I know that it is only 802.11b but 11mbps is more than enough bandwidth.
http://www.meritline.com/4-in-1-80211b-adapter-with-router-solution-pc-card.html

The WiFi card comes with software that easily sets up no matter your set up. I can switch from Wifi internet, to LAN interent with the card as a router, or Vision internet with the card as a router, all with just a couple clicks.

CNET showed my bandwidth as 220.kbps. This was without caching or anyhting else. Not bad for interent on the Go. Now on trips everyone gets WiFi, including My nintendo DS. :headbang2

I'll stick with my Kyocera Router. I don't have to have a pc running any special software, and it comes with a Cigarette lighter adapter and wall power adapter. Kind of nice to be able to supply a wifi connection anywhere I get a cell connection.

I wanted the KR1 but it was a little out of my price range, so I went economical.
