I have a sound clip on a DVD that I want to make into a ringer. How do i save record the sound from the dvd?

Well, you could either rip the DVD's audio track - or just do something simple like run a cable from your DVD players audio output to your computers sound card input. I would probably do the latter - it's not like a ringer needs to be in stereo or DTS or anything - so I would forget about the tools that rip audio and keep the channels seperated.

A friend told me about Windows Media Encoder (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx). It can capture sound from the sound card.
