Just thought I would mention this if someone wants a Non Vision phone w/ SMS msgs capability. I know there was someone asking for this very phone recently here on SU. So check it out.

It even states "Clearence Center - Limited Supply" on the website.

It still works for me. Maybe because it is a cookie on my PC?

Anyway, just check the website.

They have the 4920, 8200 and the 5500 as well for clearence sale.

For $50 the 5500, despite its age, is still a much better phone than the other $50 offerings in the more "current" lineup.

5500 $50...mmmmmmmmm

The 5500 was my second phone on Sprint. I must admit, I'll ALWAYS Have a soft spot for it. For $50, that's a steal. Honestly, other than EVDO, I'd be more than happy to own a 5500 right now.

But that price is not for existing customers who just want to buy a new phone without adding a new line. It's $249.99. Fry's Electronics still has the 5500 for only $150 (existing customers, nothing required). Much better deal.

Agreed...if the Fry's near you still has them in stock that is. ;)

I am guessing here that Sprint is unloading all the refurbs and the regular stock as "clearance items" on these phones?

AnthroMatt

If they are refurbs I would think they would be obligated to inform the consumer that the equipment they are purchasing is not new, would they not?

There are a few Fry's around here that still have 1 or 2 in stock. That was as of about two weeks ago. Surprisingly they aren't really selling that fast.

But anyway I don't see why we should all be excited over a $30 discount for old phones while having to add a new line of service. ;)

AFAIK, every company doing business that sells equipment must state if that item is a remanufactured or refurbished item. They can't sell it as "NEW" if its been reman or refurb by the manufacturer. They could get sued.

They're most likely brand new; but only extras. Refurbished phones should and I think goes to Lockline. But dont quote me on that though.

I've had an SCP 5500 for approx 2 yearsand I like it! I am currently looking for a
ev-do mem card type and I was zeroing in on a MM900 . Well, you know the rest of the story! I may still try to get the MM9000.
