First, I'd like to thank everyone here for the great info. I have been a long time reader of the forums.
Yesterday, I added a second line of service and the new phone is the a900. I'd like to use the a900 myself and switch my phone number to the new phone while switching the new phone number to my a840 that my wife will use. I was told I had to wait 30 days to do this. Is there anything Sprint can do now to make that switch?
Thank you.

I recommend waiting at least 1 week. The reason being, is that an esn swap a couple of days after activation is something that is watched for. If you don't plan on canx the line, then after a week, you can swap ESN's and carry on.
You will need a third ESN available for the swap though. So have one handy or otherwise, the rep could really screw things up.

I have swapped phones between lines on my account without needing a "dummy" ESN. Either that or the rep took care of entering a dummy ESN without informing me of the process.
yeah, if you call up you don't need a third one, but sometimes you do if you try and make the swap in a store

Then you got a rep who knew what they were doing.
I tried it once w/o a dummy esn, and 2 reps screwed up my acct big time. The 2nd one tried to fix what the 1st one screwed up and made it even worse. It took me 2 weeks to get it fixed.
That is why I recommend a 3rd ESN for the swap.

Is it best to call Sprint or go to the store? The people at the store yesterday first told me it would be 14 days to switch but then they told me 30 days.
Thanks again!

I would call in. I called the same day I activated my line and swapped the ESN's. I had been told by the store manager I could swap them that very day though, so I had to tell a supervisor that in order for him to agree to the swap.

Well, it only took two transfers and the rep helped me switch the numbers and she confirmed to me it would not affect my rebate status on the new phone. I asked that she make sure to write that in her notes.
Thank you for your help.
Now for my next question...I'd like to use the a900 as a modem for my Dell Axim PDA. Does Power Vision allow this or has Sprint changed their policy on this? I get 15 different answers from 15 reps at Sprint. What is the best way for me to utilize Sprint for internet access for the PDA? The phone as modem option or using a connection card from Sprint?

I also have an axim and the only Ive been able to connect is through #777. I have not been able to get it to dial my ISP.

I hope this isn't a dumb question but what is #777?
Thanks!

It is not a dumb question, but it is one that has been asked many many many times. #777 is how you ise your phone to "tether" your laptop to your cellphone and access the internet. Basically what you were asking about using your phone as a modem. Before you get flamed, I suggest you do a search.

Tanner - I did exactly the same thing you did when I activated my 2nd line and got the A900. LONG and ARDUOUS process... but I finally figured out just what you suggested in the end, swap the numbers so I could keep my number, use the A900 and not get back charged the $150 rebate. (I had to figure this out on my own, store reps and CSR's were lost in the process and had no clue how to let me do this. Wouldn't most ppl who activated a 2nd line want the new phone and give the old phone to the 2nd line?)
One email to ECare took care of that - two billing periods later - no problems.

If you are considering the connection card, I'd go that route. There are EVDO connection cards now, so your speeds should be as fast as broadband. The A900 does not have a great battery life, and I don't think it's the best choice for the Phone As Modem plans.

I went to a Sprint store to add a 3rd line and they switched the number the same day with no problems ( they also wavied the activation fee ) .
