Where can I find the technical details of OTA PRL update procedure?

Thank you.

With Sprint, you have to request it by speaking to a representative at *2 or via email support. There is no way to request it via any codes in the handset.

They will then flag your account for an update, and you then call back to *2 and it will let you know the update is happening.

I'm asking about the technical information: what data my phone sends to the network, what data it receives, and how that data accesses my phone filesystem.
It's not likely people here know this stuff, but maybe somebody can at least point me in the right direction.

actually, it IS likely someone here knows that. the users here are EXTREMELY knowledgeable; some Sprint techs are helpful contributors. although i don't know the answer, i do know someone here does.

OK, I found it.

The standard for OTA activation is TIA/EIA-683-C. I have yet to find the actual document though, cause the link on the TIA site is broken.
Another document, a standard for OTASP (service provisioning) 3GPP2 C.S0016-A is freely available for download on http://www.3gpp2.org/Public_html/specs/C.S0016-A_v2.0.pdf
There's a very detailed info on all aspects of OTASP procedures. It's dated 2001, so things might have changed. If only somebody could tell me how all this got implemented in the SprintPCs network.

In case you're wondering why I need it, I'm interested in mobile phone security, and I want to know if the OTA PRL update procedure can be exploited.
Hopefully I'll find out before the bad guys launch some nasty virus.

found the latest standard - http://www.3gpp2.org/Public_html/specs/C.S0016-C_v1.0_041025.pdf dated 2004
It points at TIA/EIA-683-D, which I can't find anywhere.
I wonder what's the difference between the two.

I have a cell phone.

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more.
