I think you need a MM phone.

Um, no. I have tons of options when I press that in, I'm just afraid I might mess something up.

What exactly you are looking for? Just your location on a map for info? There is two outstanding gps apps for sprint phones which you can use and sure what your looking for if it is of interest.

it must be an LG thing, cause my 325 had a lot of options with the ##GPS# code, and my 940 doesn't do anything.

Are they free?
I'm mainly wanting to get my GPS coordinants to enter them into a Streets program that I have loaded on my laptop. It would be nice to actually interface the laptop to the phone and use it's GPS in realtime but right now I'd be happy with just coordinants.

Does nothing on the a900. I don't think it will give you coordinates...the gps feature on the a900 just shows your location on a map, it does not give you any coordinates.
I think the question can be rephrased to the following:
Is there a [free] way to get my current location from my phone?
This could be a code, [free] application, etc. Output could be street address, GPS coordinates, whatever.

the 9000 does nothing as well
but it has a feature that if you take a pictue it will put the cordinates in the pic info.

That could be really handy if the coordinate info can be accessed from the phone. Any others do this as well?

garmin and telenav...but neither work right on phones that they aren't officailly available for. The free hacked versions do not work correctly unless your phone officially supports it.

I'm still using a trial version of the map software under onDemand on my A900. Yes, it doesn't continuously update my location but it seems to get my almost exact location and puts a marker on the map. First time I tried it I was amazed. How are they doing this? cell tower triangulation or something? It appears to be a J2ME application, so doesn't that mean the application makes some method calls using some GPS API to fetch the coordinates and sends the info to the mapping server? If that's the case, I would imagine it's only a matter of time before someone writes a j2me app that just displays your current lat/long :)

My LG shows tons of options when I use this. Anyone know what all the stuff means, or if it cost $$$ ?
