First, Is there a difference between using your phone connected to your laptop to use Vision's internet and using your phone to connect to say, NetZero, SBCDial, AOL, etc?
I've read in this forum that it is possible to do it the first way but what about the second way?
What would the speed differences be?
Would there be a billing difference? I would guess the 2nd way would just use your minutes?
If there is a legality issue with using the vision internet with a laptop, I don't see why people don't use something like http://www.nocharge.com unless there is a HUGE speed difference.
Also can you send faxes?
LG PM-225
P.S If Sprint does not want you to use the vision internet on a laptop then why do they have the Sprint Dialer, and Sprint Connection Manager openly available for download?

I would also like to know about this. But be prepared for the usual answers to use the search feature or that "its been discussed many times".

Some of the very early Vision phones could dial an ISP other than Sprint, but no current Sprint phones can do that. Dialing an ISP used minutes, cost 39 cents a minute, and had a maximum speed of 19.9kbps. Because they're digital, the only way to use the phone for faxing is to use one of the online fax services like efax. And for the last question - nobody knows. - sheureka

Why do all the data cable boxes say they support sending faxes?
I have a Sanyo 8300 and the Futuredial kit. I just purchased a Canon MP780 All-in-one Printer that includes a fax option. Is there any way that I can use my phone (we don't have a landline) to send the faxes?
Thanks!

I use my 920 like this, as I have to remotely connect via modem to PBXs at our remote offices on occasion while I am on the road. Netzero works as well.
It is SLOW, which is not an issue with a VT100 terminal session to a PBX, but the Internet is basically not usable.

I don't have a lindline either and have solved my fax problem. Check out www.trustfax.com service is very cheap and they give you a toll-free #. You can access your account from any internet connection. I Like is so much better thatn efax since you don't pay a monthly charge.
