Here's one for y'all to chew on. I have a Sanyo 7500 and there's an option within the camera settings to note the phone's GPS coordinates on the pictures as they are taken. I can view the coordinates when I look at the picture in the phone (going in the Edit/Details function) but I don't see a way to do anything with this information, like include it in a Picture Mail message or otherwise retrieve it when the pictures are uploaded/sent.

The manual doesn't even make mention of this feature, and the only other place I've been able to find reference to it is in a review of this phone over on Phonescoop.

Does anyone have any information on this?

Well that was quick. I'll post a reply to myself to satisfy everyone's curiosity: As I thought, it's stored as EXIF data within the JPEG. I just didn't know how to go about reading this data, and I finally found a way to get to it.

In this picture:

How so?

It's an optional feature I personally happen to like.

I'm pretty sure that the latitude/longitude data stored with the photos are the coordinates of cell tower, not the phone. I checked the lat/long from several pictures with Google Earth and found that each time, they were exactly right ...for a cell tower nearby, but not at all near where I took the picture.
