my 8100 was getting old and wasnt charging correctly and I didnt wanna pay for a newer phone, so I snagged an 8200 off ebay for $45 in the first 10 minutes of the auction using BIN.

The seller had a great reputation and has been open with me abot the sale. He bought it and then has to switch carriers. I was confident that I just got a steal. Well the phone came today. I purchased a charger seperately. I call plug it in and it doesnt turn on. I call Sprint to inquire about the ESN,,,its all good they say. The guy says it could be from the cold weather during shipping (I am in KC where its pretty cold this week) he says give it an hour....sometimes the cold weather affects batteries.

Well its now been on my charger for 2 hours and wont power on. I 2x checked that the charger worked, which it did. I emailed the seller again and he said it powered on several times....thought that the weather might have killed the battery.

Here is my question........did I get a screwed up phone, or do I just need a new battery?

Any input is much appreciated.

best thing to do is take phone to sprint store and let them run an diagonotic check on it. if it needs an battery they will try an battery that work an if it power on then its the better but if it dont power on ur got screwed. my 8200 too didnt want to charge at one point becasue i was using the sprint iniversal charger port instead of the sanyo charger so that might have somethign to do with it. but the 8200 is know for battery problem so the best thign to do is bring it to the sprint store

Just had a thought........

Is the fact that it wont charge at all a good sign? I have had phones go bad that still charge up.

Just something I thought about.

if it won tcharge at all its a possibility that the battery is bad, that the battery is attempting to charge but wont hold the charge best thing to do it brint in an let the sprint store tech. run an test on it it will only take about 45min . if ur lucky 15mi nit depend on how busy the tech is and at my local sprint store there only one techso it take about 45 min after i drop my phone off to get it back. and when u drop the phoen off they will run an test and if its the battery most liky they will put an brand new on inthere to try it an if its works u will probably have to buy a phone battery unless u have insurance.
