From what I heard it won't happen anytime soon. Sprint and Motorola could not come to a conclusion on what chip to use to make the phones. Sprint wanted Moto to use the QualComm chips (sprints standard), but Moto wanted to make their own. So that is why they aren't together.

Moto makes some cool phones, but when I use to deal verizon I would have about 50% or more of the Motorola phones I sold come back with a problem, mostly screen problems (screen going completly white, or being cut in half) and that is no exageration on the %, I acctually after awhile refused to sell the Motorola phones and would steer the customers away from them because they where complete crap. Maybe other companies like Cingular don't have problems with them but the ones with Verizon, mostly the higher end models like the 710 and up all had problems.

Well, as part of the Sprint / Nextel merger, Sprint did agree to keep Motorola as the iDEN device supplier.

As for a CDMA device, Motorola never was great at the CDMA game. SUre, they made good and solid phones (Startac lineup), but their performance was even below Samsung (at the time, which they were great) and wouldn't be able to hold up to the Sanyos of today.

Is it possible? I would say it is possible, but it could be another small & limited release like the Tarpin & Shark to re-test the waters, similar how Nokia first launched the 3585.

Patially correct with the chip thing...partially wrong with the "wont happen anytime soon" thing. There is a low-end Motorola coming to Sprint very soon...nickname, Manhattan. Lets see where that one leads us...Maybe a Q? :thought:

With a name like that I'd expect it to be filthy and try to steal my wallet!

Well, the second part might be true!

Do you know if Motorola is going to use the QualComm chip in this Manhattan phone? Or did sprint say they could make their own?

I just like the cool ringer they've came up with. "Hello Moto" hahaha, and I can just download that off DBringers. WE don't need no stinkin' Mofo Motos running around here...Sanyo needs to be our sole walkie-talkie provider.... oh yea...and I guess Samsung too. haha.. Bye Bye Mofo...I mean Moto!

I wouldn't say Motorola is only crap phones as far as CDMA goes. My old Timeport 270c was an awesome phone. The Sanyo 4930 I have now is the first phone I truly like since I had that old Timeport.

The problem is Moto does not always make their own phones. They sell phones made by low-end vendors and sell them as their own. I love Motorola phones, but my big problem with them, was they stopped making phones in the US. Years ago they made many phones in the US and they worked very well. Now they contract with Asia and Mexican companies to make their phones.

This may be off subject by I still don't understand why the i930 took so long to release and wasn't released with bluetooth.

I am intrigued by the Motorola Q and the Blackberry 8700. Based on what I've read here, it doesn't sound likely that Sprint will be getting either. I may have to jump ship to Cingular or Verizon or something...unless someone can tell me otherwise....

Is Moto ever going to offer phones along the lines of the RAZOR, not necessarily thin, just a variety with all the zoom-zooms and wham-whams

This might happen, but I'm not sure if Sprint would get that phone. Alltel also added the E815 to their network recently.
Adding that phone to another BREW carrier is not that big of a deal for Moto. But bringing it to Sprint's Java network would be a different story.

just getting in the game would be a start, I wanna see them make a RL phone or do they need Qualcomm for that

I disagree with thirdshift. I think the E815 is an alright phone for us Verizon customers who feel its our best option, but other than that it's from Old World Motorola with the cheap plastics and loose hinge, etc. Leave that phone behind and just build on something else.

I do agree with Dubspoon, however. Just getting in the game would be a start. No need to have the RAZR, or V3x, or anything snazzy. Just a solid V325 (Verizon) basic-type phone with Bluetooth and their new Java/Linux UI would be nice. There's no suitable reason this can't happen. I don't know what's with Moto and Sprint phones but whatever it is, it's just a lousy excuse for a problem that should've been fixed years ago.

well first off i am looking for a new phone.....i should say a pocket pc with phone capabilities...something like the HTC TyTn, I-Mate JasJam, or Motorola Q, but it sucks cause all of those are GSM, GPRS, maybe even HSDPA(hook it up sprint, higher speed means more users, NO?....its all good), but back to the point...which is that all these SICK phones cant be used with Sprint. Now, I love Sprint, and have been with them too long to make any abrupt changes, like canceling my contract even though those gorgeous phones are a great reason too...i have read that there will be 2 sexy looking Moto's coming in Q4 of 2006(isn't that coming up?) one has a sleek outside cover they call mirror like, and also say it is a technological first, oh ya but get this....there is no difference between the GSM and CDMA models of these right?. . . . WRONG!!!! well the GSM:2mpxl camera, bluetooth 2.0....and a built in media player, with some slick touch sensitive music controls, the CDMA: 1.3mpxl, older bluetooth, and other downgrades, this one is called the KRZR K1m. The other phone is SLVR L7c, both phones have an expandable memory of up to 1 gig.....heres the fact checker....http://www.mobiledia.com/carriers/sprint/page1.html.....click on upcoming.....say hope no one in here already said that otherwise all that typing was useless, well it kinda was cause it is on the site, but my plan was to wait for this KRZR, but considering that i will have whatever phone i may get for 2 years with the deal sprint is giving(150 off next phone with 2 yr contract) so you see i am at quite a crossroad here i 'want' a PPC phone, but the 6700 doesnt cut it, way too many problems ive read. thanks ahead of time if anyone reads this...i know i really spilled some guts.....but if anyone has any tips maybe as to what Pocket PC can go with sprint and Mac together?
