IDEA! Getting a powervision phone cheap and keeping grandfathered vision

Here is my situation I just signed a new contract with included unlimited vision.
I have a $150 instant rebate.
This is what i do: i go and use the 150 rebate on a phone like the samsung a880 or another non EVDO phone. Then i take that phone and cell it on ebay or somewhere -- making a considerably profit. I clear the esn on that phone and use my older phone for a little while. I use the money i made of that deal and buy a samsung a920 on ebay for instance (much cheaper than retail).
then i do another esn swat and i have the EVDO fast vision without being forced into paying for power vision and keeping my grandfathered vision.

is this a plausible idea? any suggestions/issues i might encounter?

I don't really understand why you want to go through so much trouble. How does this keep your plan from being changed? When you get the rebate, you have to re-sign and activate the phone....which is when your plan is effected.

i already resigned but i have the 150 credit for the phone and the rep told me to use it in a store... but if i use that credit in the store for a power vision phone they will force me to pay for power vision and i will loose my grandfathered vision..
the only way to get around this is to buy a phone retail -- and wasting the 150$ credit. with this method you use the 150 $ credit and get the phone u wanted significantly cheaper than retail

Just tell them you want the phone, and to swap to it, but ask them to let you call CS to activate it, as you don't want to change your plan. CS can make the ESN change for you w/o having to change your plan (that's what my rep at the store did for me when I went to the A920).

unfortunately most of the workers in the store are not as helpful and force u to pay for power vision
