Garmin is 9.99 too... And IMO Telenav is much better.

Has anyone had a chance to use this yet ? To see if there were any changed made, or if it's the same version.

Eh, I now see that it's the same version.

The old/same version of TeleNav works weakly on my MM-9000. That is, it has difficulty getting a GPS lock unless I extend the antenna, stop the car, etc. Garmin is better, but On Demand Maps is actually the best at getting a prompt GPS lock even if the car is moving, the antenna is stowed, etc.

I had TeleNav for 3 days last week, and although I got it to work well once, the rest of the time it would not even get a lock...to make matters worse, I am fairly certain it was screwing up my Garmin as well...my Garmin did not work well for 3 days, until I dumped TeleNav and powercycled my phone...now Garmin, which I prefer hands down over TeleNav, appears back to normal..

Must be your phone, I never had any problems. And IMO Telenav is far better.

My own observation is that you must let TeleNav complete its search for a GPS signal--successfully (getting a lock) or unsuccessfully (with the annoying "Extend your antenna" message). Even if TeleNav is unsuccessful on the first try, you can immediately tell it to try again, and on this second try it may get a lock. On the other hand, if you cancel out of the search prematurely, you goof up the phone's GPS and you have to power-cycle to fix it.

Switched from 5600 to 9000 today, and loaded Telenav on 9000. Was hoping it would work as well as it did on my old 5600.

Pleasantly surprised - Telenav now have moving map, I like it better than Garmin as it is easier to read. Version says 3.9.21. Kepp improving TeleNav!

btw, EVDO simply rocks - Way to go Sprint!!! :headbang2

I read 9000 is already end-of-life.

Is this for real? Can someone confirm? Why did the retail store guy sell me 9000 then?

OK, so this is definitely a very new version. As I mentioned, the previous published version was 3.8.20.

Either your salesman was trying to clear out discontinued stock, or...

He genuinely believed, correctly, that the MM-9000 remains the very best Sprint phone ever. It has no comparable successor. :(

at some point all phones become end of life...it does not mean Sprint will stop supporting it...the 5600 did not last long at all, yet there are 200% more games and apps available for it SINCE the time the phone was technically discontinued...I have and love the 9000 and would have bought it today despite it being end of life...I don't use bluetooth and use RL, so between that, the media card slot, and QVGA screen, there is nothing comparable...plus the great Sanyo reception...don't feel bad at all about the purchase...the A900 is also very nice, but does not have external media...depends on your needs...

back to the GPS discussion, Flood, LG and I were using the same version of TeleNav, apparently the old one...it does work sporadically, but I can confirm 100%, like LG, that it is NOT my hardware...this older version of TeleNav definitely screws up GPS if you do not let it lock...I tested it with Garmin several times, including loading and unloading TeleNav...

sounds like the new version works much better on the 9000, which is great to hear...looking forward to trying it out...I had 3.8.20 before, like LG...also great to hear TeleNav now has moving maps...that was a deal killer vs Garmin before...
