Hey i just recently purchased a 8300 and i heard that it's compatible with a data link cable however i have the data link cable for it but it's just showin up as only as a modem connection but i've read in these forums that the 8300 can't be used as a modem but why is it showing up as one. and how can i transfer files to it if it won't let me open up the actual port for it. P.M me or e-mail if you you have any ideas on what i can do thanx.

the problem is i think it has something to do with the software it won't install other than as a modem.. i can't even get into the phone through bitpim i mean it says the com 4 port is always in use

You need an 8300 driver that creates two COM ports: a modem and a serial port. You then tell Bitpim to try the serial port, not the modem.

yeah start fresh, uninstall or delete those other drivers or modems that are not working

search this forums theres several links for the drivers

so connect the phone, when the new hardware comes up point it to the folder with the drivers and bitpim should work with it
