I have 4 Sanyo VI-2300's on the fair & flex family plan, Cleveland, OH market.
I have a connection problem that occurs intermittently and I am pretty certain, only when making pcs2pcs calls. We first noticed it early on and it seems to be happening more often lately. We have had them since Aug 2005.
The phone rings, I answer it and the call timer starts, but neither the caller or callee can hear anything. DEAD AIR. The signal strength is always good.
Usually the second attempt will connect OK, but sometimes it happens 3 times in a row!
We have NEVER experienced this when making calls to land lines or other people's cell phones.
I called CS first and reported the issue.
They wanted me to keep a log of when it happens and report back.
I did, and this is what I gave them.
12:15 PM 1/16/2006 #4-#2 (Home)(About 5 miles away)
12:16 PM 1/16/2006 #2-#4 (About 5 miles away)(Home)
12:15 PM 1/16/2006 #4-#2 Connected OK on 3rd attempt.
5:05 PM 1/17/2006 #2-#1 (I90 & Eddy Rd.)(I90 & Rte 305)
5:55 PM 1/18/2006 #2-#1 (About 7 Mi apart as the crow flies)
They scheduled a software update and instructed me to call back to CS in 10 minutes from each phone and I did so.
The problem persists.
I called CS again and they recommended I take the phones to the store to have them checked out.
They put them on the bench and found no problems. They told me to call CS again and tell them they think it is a network issue. (I doubt it!)
I called CS tonight and they opened a new ticket. I asked how long to expect a call back for a resolution and was told "They will fix it and you will notice better service, but not to expect a call back." I told them WHEN it happens again, I will report it.
I notice that the PRL version is 10030 on all but one. It is 10027. Shouldn't it be 10030 also? What is the PRL? I think someone told me it has to do with roaming.
I just checked all of them for the roaming setting and found #1 was on "automatic" and set it "sprint only" as the lady in the store told me to. I think #3 was also on auto and she set it to "sprint only" in the store.
Has anyone else experienced this on a regular basis? Do you have the same phone?
HELP! I like Sprint, but this problem is driving us nuts!
