I have a Vision plan from 2002. It has NO TV included. On my A920, Sprint TV Plus is $4.95, Live is $9.99, and Ultimate is $7.95. Is the Ultimate supposed to be the best? Why Live is more expensive?

Could someone clarify?

If you do a search on the subject, in one post the listed all the channels you get w/ each. Wish I could be more help.

Okay, here's the Ultimate Channels, while not exactly current and up-to-date this will give you a good idea; I will try to update it later when I get home:

Here are the Sprint TV Live channels:

Main difference here is that Ultimate only includes 5 live channels (though when it first came out, it only included 2 I believe, so that's impressive) while Sprint TV Live is ALL live channels.

I have both of these packages. I have Ultimate on my 940 and I have Sprint TV Live on my 900 (my 900 is still on grandfathered Vision). If I had to choose a PV package, I would go with the Plus package (or the base $15 package if I didn't intend to use Picture/Video Mail) and get Sprint TV Live.

the reason Ultimate is cheaper is that Sprint, in classic form, has misnamed their offerings...Sprint Ultimate has 4-5 live channels and a bunch of clip channels...Sprint TV live on the other hand has about 20 live channels, most of which are pretty good actually...I am on an old vision plan on my 9000 and subscribe to Sprint TV live...I had Ultimate for less than a week before "upgrading" to Live...

To be fair, I must point out that live channels typically have commercials just as regular cable TV does. If you tune to a live channel, you simply get whatever is 'on' at the moment, and of course you typically arrive in the middle of it. Clips let you choose what you want to watch, and you watch it from beginning to end without commercials.

In practice, though, the clips in Sprint TV Ultimate are nowhere near a comprehensive list of everything the live channels play during a day, and are not updated nearly often enough. I am currently trying Ultimate this month, but near the end of the month I will probably cancel Ultimate and again subscribe to Live.

EDIT: Theoretically, clips could have better video quality because they need not be encoded in real time ('on the fly'), but Sprint constrains them to 176x144 anyway, so in practice the clips are of no better quality than Live. And Live unquestionably has the 'wow' factor to impress your friends that video clips don't.

I agree commercials stink but that is the price we all pay for live TV, even at home (barring Tivo fast forwarding or hacks)...Sprint TV Ultimate is really weak...the clips are completely random, are not updated nearly enough, and as you said, make no attempt to capture what has happened that day on live TV...

there is nothing like waiting in line somewhere, flipping open the phone, and tuning in to Discovery, ABC News, Fox Sports Channel, etc...
