Making Your Own Media Player

Would there be a way that you could make your own media player application, so you could customize it the was you want to? Because you could add so many more options, such as visualization, more supported formats, etc, and if anyone has any idea about BT, maybe even including A2DP. :hee: but it was just a thought. i googled it to see if there were other alternative media player programs, and i couldn't find any. any input would be great, or if anyone had information on how to write mobile applications, let me know. i would be willing to give it a try, but i'm no expert at programming, i just know HTML stuff mostly. thanks

MobiTV does something similar. It is written in Java but tries to be similar to Sprint TV Live. (The latter uses the built-in Media Player.) But MobiTV clearly cannot match the speed of Sprint TV Live, because the Media Player is accessing the phone's hardware at a much lower level than a Java program is allowed to.

so is this possible? or is there already alternative players out there. like i know for the nokias you can get real player, but thats not really making your own. could anyone do this?

You're on the right track but ... that site looks pretty old ... and like the OP said, you're not accessing the fast part of the phone ... It's a java program.

Qualcom site has BREW. Supposed to be backone software for developing any type of software for a phone ... maybe worth reading ....:thought:
