I don't know if this has been discussed before in this area or others, but I have a question regarding SERO and U/L text.
My brother wants to switch his plan to the SERO plan. But he has G/F Vision which includes U/L text msgs. If he does switch, does he lose his U/L text messages? I know that the SERO has U/L web and picture mail which is nice, but the text msgs is what he's concerned with.
Any suggestions?

I don't know if my brother is going to want to switch to SERO because of this. It is still cheaper than the plan that he's got even if he pays the $15.00 unlimited text because Vision will be included in this plan instead of paying the $15.00 fee for it.
Hmmmm ... let me suggest and see what he says.

Apparently their IS a $0 UL SERO text code, but getting a rep to apply it may be like pulling teeth! If you get the $30/500 plan with powervision and pay $15 for UL text (you can talk em down to 10 easily) your paying $45 for 500 mins, UL powervision and UL text messages............. still a good deal.
make a couple calls and I'd bet that the UL text is offered at $10/month! Considering most people are paying $25/month or more for power vision and UL text SERO is still the better option IMO.

i signed up for SERO a week ago. I emailed Ecare and told them that the rep told me I could have 7pm nites and 100 free text. They declined to do it. Now heres the messed up part. Once my business discount was applied. My company 25% and USAA membership 5%. I emailed back the same email content and they gave me the 7pm nites and 100 text free on both my lines. so yes it can be done

I ended up getting U/L text for $10. I don't mind paying it, my new plan is still unbeatable. I don't think I'm going to EVER switch from this plan (except maybe to the higher MRC sero plan later when/if my usage goes up again).

When they offer options for free, do they do it in the form of making the option straight out $0, or does it come as a credit on your invoice?
I was offered 500 text messages for free and nights and weekends at 7pm for $5 through ecare on a sero plan; it's already changed supposedly but I can't confirm it. The email conversation originally started out with the rep offering me unlimited text messages free and n/w at 7pm for $5. I'm not sure if I'm pushing my luck by persisting to ask.

The longer you wait to reply, the more a chance increases the same rep just got off or went on break and another rep will reply back to you. I'm usualy hawking my email when I talk to eCare JUST in case ;).

Well I just e-mailed ecare and was able to get U/L SMS for free on one line and then U/L for $2.50 on another. Along with 6PM N&W for Free. I actually didn't expect that much, but was told that because of my longevity with SPCS that they would give me these add'l options. So I was happy nonetheless.

I agreed to renew a 2 year contract, in exchange for a SERO 500 plan.
The Layout:
500 SERO Plan = $30
6PM N&W = $10
500 Text Messages = $8
12% NVP discount
This new plan and 2 yr agreement will take effect March 11th.
My old (current) plan, I'm paying $10 for Vision Pictures Pack, which includes 100 text messages. I emailed eCare a week ago asking for a new plan with more minutes, earlier start time, etc.... and the first and only plan offered to me was a SERO 1250 (I told them I'd rather have 500 instead and they agreed with that)
My Old Plan:
750 AT Minutes /w 8PM Unlimited N&W = $40
Free and Clear America = $5
Vision Pictures Pack /w 100 texts = $10
12% NVP discount
I am grateful that I was offered a SERO. The only bad thing I noticed is that I will lose my eligiblity for a $150 credit towards a new phone in Oct 2006. (because the service plan must be $34.99 or higher, and my SERO is only $30). If Sprint would give me 100 texts or 500 texts for free (i'd be happy with either honestly), this would drop my new monthly spending down to $40 a month (i currently pay $55) Even losing the eligibilty for the New For You Program, only 10 months from now I will have saved more than the $150 the program would give me, and I wouldn't have to renew my contract again in october.
The first set of e-mails to to eCare (the ones that offered me the SERO) said that 500 text messaging wasn't available as free. (a code doesn't exist)
Do you think I should try e-Care again or try to talk with someone in retentions? If I could get free texts, this would be perfect. Do you think I can actually get it, or are they right by saying "it's not available" ?
OR do you think Sprint would offer me a $150 service credit (in exchange for losing eligibilty.... I just assume have the free texts, but if a service credit would be easier getting then I'd do that)
Any advise would be greatly appreciated,
Jamie

Ask eCare for a service credit to offset the cost of a new handset. Tell them what you've told us. In a seperate email, after you establish either getting or not getting the service credit, try emailing eCare asking for 500 free text and if they turn you down, ask for 100 in your reply. Just be frank but polite with them. :)
But back to the handset issue, if I remember correctly though, a plan change does not reset your equipment upgrade program date. Its only if you activate a new (or used phone but new to your account) phone that your EUP date is reset. Which means that you still get the $150 after 2 years of owning and using your current handset.

The requirements say a service plan of $34.99 or higher is required for the rebate, and my SERO plan is only $30. That is how I lose eligibilty. :(

Pay for 100 text messages for $5 then take it off or ask for 500/UL for free after you get a new handset :).

They turned me down for free text messaging, so I reply asking for a service credit to offset the cost of a new phone.
They offered me a $75 service credit. Have to buy a phone outright, and then reply back and he will credit my account.
I'd like to get a Sanyo MM-9000? Can they still be ordered on the phone? Or would I have to contact all of the corporate stores up in the twin cities to see if they would have one in stock.
Also, what do you think of the Sanyo MM-5600. Which do you think would be a better buy?
OR do you think I should just wait. But I hope the next high end phone will still have mini-SD capability. I read somewhere on the forums that Sprint wants to eliminate that so you have to buy music from them.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Did you read what I posted two posts up?
You can still have your $150 EUP, just add on $5 100 text messages for the next few months then after you get the $150 you can take it off. $30 SERO + $5 100 text = $35 so you're above your $34.99 requirement.

Are you sure that's how it works.
From what I read, it has to be the base plan only, no add-ons.
In the fine print, it reads "A Sprint PCS Service Plan is your base monthly plan; it does not include monthly fees for add-on features and services."

Well, they are letting me have SERO on 3 lines. What does it hurt to try? Ecare is the way to go. I got 6pm NW for free, and 500 Txt for free on my $30 SERO plan. :) Decided to go SERO for the whole family, so ordered another $30 SERO plan for my teenager, and a $50 for my wife the heavy talker. ;) Plan on getting Free 6pm on all 3, and 500 text on all 3. Might have to pay a little and go U/L text on the teens though. ;) See how she does with a 500 limit first.
FYI, I'm NEW to sprint, my A900 gets here tomorrow.

Real cool that you were able to get it! I really doubt teenagers will stay under the 500 limit, especially if their friends have u/l with t-mob or some other carrier... but maybe she'll be able to handle it, who knows? Have fun with your a900!

Yeah same here, I used to use the u/l SMS that I had before to notify when I had a new email or news, lotto #'s, Laker scores, and a few people who have u/l sms also... but I guess i'll have to cut off the other alerts because now I have PV and I can browse the internet so much faster, so i guess it balanced itself out!

Considering I've got 4 lines of SERO plans I doubt they put a "hard limit" on it. Granted on the same token it might be a bit more difficult to get SERO on alot of lines unless you've been with sprint quite a few years.
Considering I've had my account with sprint open since back in 2002 would you think it'd be worth a shot at asking for the UL text and n/w @ 6PM? (problem is I keep being told that code has expired/no longer exists).

I recently got it added on 2 of my lines and I helped 2 of my friends get it also (all on SERO plans) Before, I was paying $15 but I was receiving $8 SMS credit every month(so I was actually paying $7) so hopefully, I will still get that $8 SMS Credit which will make my unlimited SMS messaging free! :headbang2

I have an easy way to get u/l text for $10.... if you are a college student. Currently (I think), if you are a college student you are eligible for 300 free texts, a $5 value. I called up and told them I was looking to get text messaging and mentioned the 300 free texts deal. I proceeded to tell them 300 wouldn't be enough and asked if they could credit the $5 value from the free 300 towards the unlimited. The rep easily agreed and took me only one call and very little time. As for the 300 free, I am pretty sure it is still available, and the flier I saw telling about this at a local Sprint store said with valid college ID. However the rep on the phone never asked for validation, even though I am a student. Well, I thought I would share my two cents.

I recently got free unlimited text added to a friends account as well as mines. We are both on the SERO plan. Both of us were in about a year into our contracts. However, for my friend to get free unlimited texts, he had to renew his contract.
If you can't get it, requesting unlimited texting for $8 seems easy to get. To get free unlimited texing, my best advice to everyone is to just pay your bills on time and wait out for while before requesting it (or anything for free)
