The Sprint AC580 EVDO Data Card is now SMS enabled.

I had recently upgraded my connection manager software and noticed to my delight that SMS is now enabled on my card. According to Sprint there are no extra charges *fingers crossed* to SMS thru the card with the $59.99 unl. EVDO data option. Yay! :clap: I do not know if the other Sprint EVDO cards are included at this time? Comments on other cards? :wavey:

The current version of the new update software for the AC580 is 3.2.6 and can be found here www.sierrawireless.com if Sprint's server does not have it.

Okay, I am confused here I talked to tier one data support yesterday and they said no SMS charges would be applied. But now CS says there is no clear pricing policy in place for this new feature thru the card? Anyone have any clear info to what SMS charges apply here or if any of the current SMS options will work with this? CS says none of the current SMS codes will provision onto my data account? :(

its going to be normal text messaging charges. .10/ea. incoming/outgoing (unless received from sprint), and/or i believe the same text messaging plans apply to this.

If you get a chance can you see what SMS options will provision on a data account? A CSR agent said none of the current SMS codes will work on my account. :(

The answer is no, it is not included. You have to add on a SMS option like I did ($5 for 100 texts) or it is 10 cents a text. :(

The answer is no. The EVDO data plan is treated as a separate line of service, and SMS options are single line features only that aren't sharable with AAP lines anyway. You would need to purchase an SMS option to the aircard account.
