Hi Gang,

I have been looking at the Sony-Ericsson w800i walkman phone, but it is a Cingular/3G device and I have decided that I am not yet ready to drop my Sprint coverage. I have too much to loose, and the gain is potentially not that great to go to Cingular.

So.

Is there a comparable phone on Sprint's network? In a perfect world, I would want a phone that had a 2 megapixel camera with a flash, and a media player with SD or miniSD memory, expandable out to 2gigs or so.

I would really appreciate a reccomendation or two for a phone that has these features. Again I am looking to get a "decent" camera out of this, plus a something I can load a bunch of mp3's onto for use at the gym or on short car trips.

Your reccomendations are appreciated.

Thanks,
JH

phones like this have been on the sprint network for months now. i.e the A940 - it uses a transflash memory card, these are currently only available in 512MB though until larger cpacity cards come ount in the next couple of months

Isnt the expandable memory limited? I thought the a800 only had a solid memory. What is the memory format?

Thanks very much for the information guys!

The A800 and the A940 both use Transflash card. And if I were you, I would buy the A940 since it has BT which is a win over the A800 but the A800 has a better camera. Your choice though.

Thanks very much for the responses. These phones are pretty much what I was looking for. But is there any way to see examples from each phone? 2megapixel cameras take a 1600x1200 image, right? Also I see that each has a flash but most of the reviews I've read so far say that the camera needs to be held very steady to take the shot. Can anyone confirm whether or not they have good flashes, or do these phones use those flashlight flashes that tend to work only in very very short ranges?

Just a quick rant too...
And I really wish they wouldnt use transflash. In the effort to get phones smaller and smaller they go to transflash with a max storage of 512 mb. I would sacrifice a little bit of that super-small phone trend in exchange for a larger, more readily supported memory format.

512mb is the highest available at the moment, 1gb tf's coming soon though, the a940 takes horrible shots unless held super steady, the a800 is quite a bit more tollerant of this, and yes the 2mp cams take 1600x1200, and the flash on the a800 is quite nice, it isnt a dig cam flash but for an american camera phone it does quite well :)

another tip, you wouldnt want the w800 for cingular anyway, most of cingulars network is gsm 850, which the w800 lacks, the w600, wannabe piece of crippled crap is the closest thing to it that will actually work optimally with cingular.
