ok so i couldn't find any other information pertaining to this, not even in the user manual, so i'm posting here. i have an exclamation point to the left of the mini-sd symbol and to the right of where the new message notification would be, i wish i could take a picture but alas i am at work and only have the camera on my phone. anyone know what this is for, it is driving me nuts trying to find out.

That's happened to me to a couple times. On my phone this exclamation mark is a "Notification" icon, which indicates that you have recieved 2 or more different types of notifications, Missed voice call/Missed ready link call/Schedule alarm/Call alarm/Alarm clock. Go thru your phone and see if you have missed any of these, and then 'dismiss' or 'cancel' which ever one hasn't been. It's kinda like the voicemail envelope icon that won't go away until you listen to message, and then delete it. I know we have different phones, but they are both Sanyo so this exclamation icon probably means the same thing

unfortunately no, i looked though every type of message possible plus on my phone multiple types show up as a different letter under the envelope (V,T,P) for the type of message waiting. i powered down my phone and it went away, but i'm still super curious what it is not to mention why its not in the user manual

Try this...... Go to Settings> Phone Info> and then "Help." On my phone, clicking on Help shows every icon the phone has, and what each one means. This is where I found the exclamation mark, and what it means for at least my phone. Hope this helps, I am aware your menu/navigation may be different than mine.

hmm i got that before.
and it wasnt for an urgent text messge.
this was an exclaimation that was there by itself, not an exclaimation on the msg. envelope. it was a stand alone exclaimation point near the sd icon, more to the right than in the middle where the yellow envelope is.
what is it?

That's the same one I got, it was there all by itself. I got rid of it by doing what I posted above. Do you remember how you got rid of yours?

I get that mark on my 9000 when I have a missed alert...say somebody calls and you do not pick up, but they leave a voicemail...you'll see the vmail icon at first...after calling in for the message and hitting the * key to log out, that envelope will disappear...but I will still have an exclamation point on my screen for the missed call...if I click the OK button, it takes me to the menu page, and there is an icon for missed alerts with an exclamation point on it...if I click that and "dismiss" the missed alerts, the exclamation point goes away...come to think of it, I definitely get that exclamation point on my outer screen as a notification, but don't remember if I get it on the inner one...in any case, I've already detailed how I get rid of it on the 9000...don't use my 5600 anymore but maybe it is something similar?
