Hey , the miniSD card that comes with it is a 16 mb card, you can fit 3 - 4 songs , and it depends on how big the pictures are, like if u were to have pictures that were 200 kb big , u can fit 80 pictures then (if you're goin to fill the card with only pictures), personally if ur really into the fone and want to load up on songs, videos, pictures and other stuff, then u should buy a bigger MiniSd card. I have a 1 gig :) and with that i have over 150 songs, like 70 pictures and videos put together and i still have 200 mb free :)

Please keep in mind that for $25 or less (e.g., at TigerDirect or Fry's/Outpost), you can get a 256MB miniSD card.

I myself am expecting a 1GB miniSD card that I ordered from ZipZoomFly.com for $65.

You can fit more songs onto the card by encoding them as MPEG4/AAC (extension .m4a) rather than MP3 (extension .mp3). For example, a song that takes up 1.9MB as MP3 may take up only 0.7MB as AAC.

Of course, you need a program that knows how to do this.

I got my 1 GIG card from Amazon for $74 and have 2 seasons of Seinfeld and 44 songs on it. I have about 15% left on it still. The 16MB card is a waste. I put it on my digital camera bag just in case I need some more mem.

You can fit about half a dozen or so / give or take the length... If you only plan on listening through the speaker - go ahead and compress the songs a bit more.

OH, also.. the songs i download, can i use as ringtones? how much memory does the phone itself have, without the card? how many songs, pics, vids, can i store... AND, one last question lol... hopefully!! haha... Can i download a ringtone for example, assign it to someone in my phone book and then delete the ringtone to save room, or will it delete it from the person too..?

Not directly, I don't think. I think you have to use a program like Nero Wave Editor to crop the music to the segment you want as a ringer (e.g., 30 seconds), save it as an MPEG4/AAC file with a .m4a extension, and then use an upload/download tool (like the Focus tool on the SprintUsers site) to load it into your phone as a ringtone.

The bottom line is that, as far as I know, ringtones must be actually in the phone's memory, not on the miniSD card. The phone has, I think, a total of 18MB of memory, but about 3MB of that is already taken.

The 1 GB miniSD is currently the largest out. Rumors of a 2 gig in development are around. *shrug*

I believe the phone has 18 MB of memory by itself without the card. I don't have the phone (yet?...we'll see) so I can't say with 100% positivity, although I'm sure someone else here can confirm that for you.

I'm not sure about the songs that you download, if they can be assigned as ringtones. Are you talking about the songs from the music store? If so, then I don't believe you can. Basically, you can only assign ringtones in the "ringers" folder in the "my content" folder as ringtones. I think that songs downloaded from the music store go into your "media" folder.

Lastly, if you assign a ringtone to a contact, if you delete the ringtone, then the contact's ringtone will go to the default ringtone.

Hope that helps you!

not sure if you've checked it out yet, but Deval created a really good FAQ for creating ringtones. I'm not sure if anyone else has any information about when/if the 2 gig is coming out but the 1 gig is definately large as well. I was able to hold about 5 full length (1 1/2 - 2 hours) movies on the 1 gig card, have about 10-15 songs on it and still have plenty of room for photos/videos that I took with the camera/camcorder.

no, you cannot download and assign a ringtone to somebody, then delete it from the phone and still expect it to work...it is assigned from the memory bank where it resides...it does not move somewhere on your phone when you associate it with a particular person...once it's gone, it's gone...
