There are 3 types of phones Army recruiters are using right now as from what I know. The 4920 was the newest when I got there. A great upgrade over the monochrome one still in use. Now that it's discontinued they're getting the rl-4930. We don't use RL, but anyways here is the real problem.

On the way back from my vacation in Michigan the rl-4920 started acting weird. I checked the LCD settings, and they are not set to always on. The LCD won't turn off no matter what. When I turn it off and it's not on the charger it says "battery charging power off" without the backlight. There must be something wrong with this phone. Anyone have any ideas?

If I can't get this dumb thing to work I'll try to get it upgraded. Might end up with an old monochrome one though. That would really suck.

Thanks everyone

Is there any chance one of the keys is "stuck" or hanging? Have you tried removing the battery and replacing? Go Army!!! My brother-in-law comes back from Iraq in Jan. I myself am AD Air Force.

Have removed the battery and checked for hanging keys. Really weird stuff here. The only way to charge it is to turn off the power and power it on with the charger in. If you plug the charger in while the phone is on it won't do anything.
