Ok I've had my a920 for 2 weeks now . I wanted to wait more than a couple of days before I wrote my review .
My phone history: Been with sprint since '98 . Most recent phones sanyo 5300, samsung- a500, vga 1000, a800, and now the a920 . My dad purchased the a900 at the same time I got my a920 .
The main reason I chose the 920 over the 900 was simply the memory card slot . I'm a multimedia junkie, and I wanted an all in one device . I hate carring around too many things . And I love flip phones, not a fan of any other design .
OK: here we go .
First impressions: Wow, cool looking, and feels solid .
After 2 weeks: still cool looking, the finish is nice an smooth, and the phone feels very solid, not cheap at all . Love the dark blue color( looks black at night) . The white leds under the keys are awsome . Looks so much better then green or blue . The buttons are slightly raised which makes dialing so easy .
Phone: Reception is as good,or better than any other phone I've owned .
Call quality: Loud and clear , highest volume almost sounds like spear phone .
Speaker phone: Its really loud, very clear also . People can't even tell I'm on speaker phone unless I tell them .
Overall, this phone is outstanding as just a phone .
Internal Screen: For not being a QVGA screen it looks stunning to me . Very sharp and clear . Bright and crisp images .
External screen: The best part is that its wide screen . The fact that its STN really sucks . The screen still looks good, but you definitely notice the difference detween TFT and STN . After using the phone for 2 weeks this is not a deal breaker at all . I can live with it . The one cool thing though is that you can watch TV or listen to music on the ouside screen . (meaning phone closed)
UI: The interface is awsome . Fully customizable from head to toe . I just wish they included the animations(falling hearts, leaves, snow) . Super fast, no lag time at all . Much better then the a900, which lags, and in my opinion is the same UI as the a800 . I think they rushed the 900 out to quickly .
External speakers: very loud, they do get a bit distorted a the highest volume . Still better then any other phone that I've owned . Music and audio sound great on them .
Camera/video recorder: Pictures look very clear . You just have to hold steady . Video looks pretty good for a camera phone . Nothing to get excited about .
Bluetooth: sorry don't use it, so I won't comment on it
Power Vision: Simply amazing . So freeking fast it rediculous . Web browsing is so quick and smooth .
Media functions: This is why I really love this phone . I can watch any movie I want on it from my tflash card, and I can listen to all my music as well . Plays flawlessly .
Memory: tflash card, I have a 512mb, and about 24mb of internal memory(plenty)
Sprint TV looks amazing . Just like reall Tv . Sirius radio sounds awsome . Just like real radio .
Orb runs great on the a920 .
Opera mini runs very smooth . Such a cool browser . Thanks to sprint users for telling me about it .
Pod to Mob runs great . What a cool program . Audio sounds very good . Again thanks to SU .
Overall this phone can do just about anything, and does it amzingly well . It satisfies all my needs as a multimedia hore!!!!
Its the phone I've always been waiting for . Thank you sprint and samsung .
Pros: Power vision, design, external media controls, multimedia functions, lots of memory, ease of use as a phone, man just everything!!!!
Cons: External screen, placement of the headphone port is in the way of the volume button, Still can't figure out if video ringers can be used that I made, working on that .
Phone:9/10
Reception: 10/10
UI: 9/10
Powe Vision/EVDO: 10/10
Mulitimedia functions: 10/10
Camera: 9/10
Side note: all you 900 owners, can keep your cool looking phone, the 920 is the true multimedia phone . HAHA
