I am trying to use the AOL IM software with my A900 phone.. but when I hit the link to download the app (It's a menu option on my phone, takes me to a sprint vision website) - the link is no longer available!

All I can find from Sprint is a Yahoo messenger, which I do not use.

What happened to the AIM client that should be included with my phone?

I am having one hell of a time finding an alternative J2ME client. I found one called tipic but it has failed connection attempts.

Can anyone point me to a URL I can send my phone to in order to download the AIM J2ME client?

What about alternative (free) IM clients that work with the AIM service?

I still have the option of using the AOL Mobile WAP-based service. IT BLOWS! I have NEVER received a message. When people send me IMs I am sent a link via SMS to an AOL website. It always states "you have been signed out" and asks me to log back in. When I do - it fails or creates a new session. My IMs are now gone!! Bahh frustrating, this is AOL's fault for having crappy WAP-based IM service though.

Anyone else have good or bad experience trying AOL or other IMs?

The AIM application isn't available for the 900... at least not yet. It was never supposed to be included with the phone. I don't know where you heard or read that, but you were unfortunately misinformed. Your options are AIM through SMS and IM Forwarding.

Or, if you can get your hands on an AIM application for another phone model, it will usually work. I have one that was for the A620 or something and it works. I can't tell you where to get that... the site I use is temporarily closed. But there is another popular website most the people on this forum use... I can't tell you where it is, but a little searching on this forum will go a long way.

http://www.buildhigh.com/jonnychat/index.php4

JonnyChat does the trick. You have to look halfway through the page in order to find the .JAD file (.jar files won't work on my A900) - It's about 80K if I remember right and it works on my phone.

Pretty slick interface. Color with Icons and the "just right" amount of options for me - I can read away info and the IM interface has smooth-scrolling text. Haven't tried more than one conversation to see how well it works.

Hey wow... I'm gonna have to try out that app.

*Edit... You got this to work on the 900??? It installs on mine, but it won't run. Period. Used Rumkin to upload it, then tried funformobile, then tried Gtoal. Nada. :td:
