Sup all well i went into the sprint store 2 days ago to have them activate my a940 since someone stole my 5600. so while he was doing his work i asked if they had any 9000's and if i could trade my phone in(just to see what he'd say) he told me that Sprint doesn't carry the 9000 anymore or the a940. I was like what the it just came out 3 weeks ago he said yeah but its only a test phone and the real ones will beoout early next year so i asked whats replacing the 9000 and he said the 5700 it will have a better camera and bluetooth. what do you guys think.i live here in connecticut i went to a sprint store in Newington, CT if anyone knows where that is. Just curious to see what others think.

Sorry if this is a repost.

Both phones will be carried by Sprint and retailers through 2006. He obviously did not know what he is talking about. Inventory for both phones are extremely low

Yep, I'm holding off to see what this 5700 is all about, to many rumours at this point, but it does seem at least there is a phone called the 5700 that will be released sometime in the 1st half of next year. I was interested in the a900, but man, after reading the many horror threads about the quirks, and bugs with this phone, well, lets just say I simply don't have the time or patience to talk to techs, wait for, or implement upgrade after upgrade ect, I don't care how 'cool' it looks. Anyway, since I already missed out on the already disco'd 9000, (which sounded real nice to me) I'm really hoping that all the right things will finally come together with this new, no re-hash Sanyo. Since the 9000 was Sanyo's first handset to take the big step in the EVDO world, it was probably more of a 'test' kind of phone (hence it's quick demise) and Sanyo could now be setting us up for it's first real new, fresh, ('flagship?') device that will take alot of the traffic from the Samsung threads back to the Sanyo threads. (and hopefully, the talk won't be because of all the bugs it has!) Personally, the new 7500 just doesn't quite do it for me, and as I've said before, I think it will be worth the wait to see what transpires with this 5700, at least I sure hope so. And yes, one of the rumours is that it will be Sanyo's first BT phone.

Infact, contrary to some of the (always credible) statements spread via online forums... the Sanyo 9000 and the Samsung A-940 have both been discontinued from Sprint Nextel corporate retail stores inventory and are currently at end of life status for replenishment. These handsets however will be available for online ordering and "direct shipment" at retail stores for the next few months while quantites at the warehouse allow. Both of these handsets were initial releases for power vision and are being replaced with the new offerings from Samsung and Sanyo and LG in the first quarter 06. Hence, why the 9000 was basically a 5600 with an EV-DO chipset and the 940 is basically a rebadged SCH-A970.

so if sprint corp disco the 9000 and don't carry it anymore, how was it I purchased one at a corp store in KC? This issue has been discussed numerous times in many threads so it's pointless to keep bringing it up. They have not been disco just yet. As a matter of fact sanyo is in the process of shipping a new order to sprint now. I know I wish I had proof but all I have is the word of a high ranking employee of product development at sprint. If no one believes this that's fine with me but I hold this person in high regards and don't think they would lie to me. The 5700 most likely won't be out till 2nd quarter of 2006.

Right now speculation is that yes the 5700 will have bluetooth, never heard of bluyetooth. Yes it is supposed to have a 2.0 mega pixel camera. The CCD sensor is still in question no conformation on that yet.

I was reading a thread not sure which thread it came from (Sprintusers, or howardforum). Anyway someone wrote a letter or email to Sanyo to find out why they do not release bluetooth with their phones. A spokeperson from Sanyo wrote them back and stated "They only release phone that Sprint asked them to release"
Otherwise Sprint tells Sanyo what tech they want in their phones, Sprint at this time do not want any bluetooth in their Sanyo phones. That are release for Sprint, however Sanyo does have bluetooth with the phones they make for overseas.

If I can find that thread I will post it here!!!!!!!!

Sanyo does not have any say in the matter on what tech should they put in Sprint phones, Sprint has the only say in this matter. Like I stated before Sanyo has bluetooth phones, but only for the market overseas.

The point I'm making, if it was up to Sanyo, they will have already release bluetooth phones for Sprint, Sprint is the problem. A lot of people wanted to know why Sanyo does not have any bluetooth phones. Otherwise they are blaming Sanyo for this reason.

I know what the question was, I making an observation concerning bluetooth with sanyo. The question was the 5700 and bluetooth, and second I do not need you to tell me what the question was.

Look in all the thread or posts, they do not only speak about only what the question is!

There was nothing brought up though regarding who requests bluetooth we know that. The main question was if anyone has heard if the 5700 would have bluetooth not who is going to request it to have bluetooth. Don't get your panties up in a bind wouldn't it be nice to have at least 1 thread stay on topic. Nobody really cares who requests the feature people just want it.

My post had nothing to do with your post on speculation. I was simply replying to the OP.

I just picked up the 9000 today. All I can say is I'm glad to be back with Sanyo. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE Samsung or else I wouldn't have bought the a940 and a900 to give them a whirl, but when I had the 5600, I felt it was perfect sans the camera. The camera on the 9000 is great so far.

The 5700 may be a possibility, but i'd have to learn more about it before I'd consider leaving the 9000. It has bluetooth? *shrug* I've had one hell of a time trying to find a bluetooth phone for sprint that worked best for me. Motos get static when the phone is in my pocket and the Jabra while VERY LITTLE static was painful to wear after long periods of time. *sigh* I was really looking forward to having a bluetooth capable phone, but the a940 and a900, and the headsets I had, didn't really work for me, so I'm back to wired earpieces. No static. =)

But I'd like to know more about this 5700......I plan to keep my 9000 longer than a week though (this is my 3rd phone since Black Friday). There will always be bigger and better on the horizon, but I am content and happy now (and nearly broke). :hee:

tuolumne and I were discussing the 5700 over at HowardForums recently. He confirmed most features (2mp camera, BT, EV-DO, etc.) except for WiFi which is a mere rumor at this point (the same one being attached to Samsung's upcoming a960).

At random, he brought this old picture up. It was leaked months before the 7500 came out and we thought this was it, remember?

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/8384/7500public24yu.jpg

I assume he's implying that this might actually be the 5700, in which I'd be horrified. I was hoping Sanyo would finally start taking their Sprint designs into the Japanese handset realm.

Yeah, that would be a early mock-up alright, that pic did come out way before the 7500 did, so if that is the 5700, and it doesn't come out about 6 months from now, that would have given them plenty of time to change just about everything I see in that picture, including the size of that internal display, which looks like it might be bigger than my avatar. I can pray..... oh yes....... I can pray. :fingers:

I'm pretty sure that picture is of the 7500 not 5700. For some reason my usual sources aren't talking to me right now. I'm assuming this is because the 5700 is going to be the phone of all phones. Well someone needs to tell me something because if they don't I'll need a straight jacket.

i think that picture is an early mockup of the 7500 and not the 5700. Obvious reasons:

- old Sprint logo
- smaller internal screen and wider external screen just like the 7500
- faceplate design like the 7500

pretty much, i'm leaning towards believing that is not the 5700. Also, it's cool that a picture that lil ole me took is still popping up on hofo and SU months later.

... Corey long time no talk, and any word on whether or not that really is the 5700? I think Sel said that it was in testing right now...Yeah, great to hear from you, Double A. I have no idea, personally. If ol' ONENAND here, already figured out in record timing, says it's just an early mockup then at least we know they finally have an internal antenna in mind. I hope we're done with the 5000 series rehashes. Sanyo better give us something that looks like it's being carried by KDDI in Japan (like their upcoming W33SA satellite phone).

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4676/w33sa6vy.jpg

"Sanyo's "W33SA" handset will be available for KDDI's
"au" mobile phone service beginning in early December. The phone
is amongst the first in Japan to feature support for "single-segment"
broadcasts. "Single-segment broadcasts" refers to those terrestrial
digital broadcasts that are intended solely for mobile devices such
as phones, PDAs, in-car navigation systems, laptops, and so on.
Purchasing a device that supports "one-seg" means you'll be ready
to receive single-segment broadcasts when they launch nationwide
on April 1, 2006.

The W33SA is equipped with a 2.4" QVGA (240 x 320) dot LCD,
which is mounted on a dual axis hinge. This means the screen
portion can be twisted 360 degrees, allowing you to close the
phone with the LCD sunny-side up.

Sanyo has integrated a number of their services with data provided
by one-seg -- their "EZ TV" program guide service, for example, now
supports one-seg broadcasts. Because the W33SA has tuners
capable of receiving terrestrial digital, terrestrial analog, and FM
radio signals, you'll have plenty of options at your disposal for
accessing content traveling around the airwaves. Their "EZ Navi
Walker" pedestrian navigation system has also been integrated
with one-seg: when a program is talking about a new store opening,
for example, you'll quickly be able to access walking/public
transportation directions to that location from wherever you may be.
"Lemme Hear It Search" also allows you to search for the "Chaku
Uta Full" (a service offered by KDDI that provides full-length, CD
quality music downloads) versions of songs that are currently
being played in one-seg broadcasts.

Besides the ability to receive a variety of broadcasts, the handset
has support for "SD-Audio," and can thus act as a portable audio
player. Several recording features are also available -- you'll be able
to record terrestrial digital broadcasts, FM radio broadcasts, and,
of course, your own voice. Unfortunately it looks like Sanyo shorted
us on the digital camera portion, supplying a paltry 1.26MP
sensor -- well below the 2MP that has become the Japanese
mobile phone industry standard. Other features of the W33SA
include SD-Video support for playing MPEG-4 movies from
a miniSD card, infrared for controlling A/V equipment, and support
for au's new "Hello Messenger." Hello Messenger is similar to other
"Push-to-Talk" services of the world, but also allows for transmission
of text and images, in addition to voice.

Keep an eye out for the W33SA, as it is set to launch before the
end of the year."

No, no. the preliminary specs listed on the side are the 7500's specs. This original info is so old actually that Power Vision isn't even listed as one of the confirmed features on the list. When i go home i'll dig it up and see what it said, just to satisfy all curiosities.

Yeah, I'm really counting on Sanyo for this one to, coming from a 7400, I couldn't wait till we got real specs on the 7500, so when we did, and I saw pictures..... well, it just didn't do it for me, so this is kinda my last hope, at least for the latest, greatest Sanyo phone. To be honest, the 9000 seems to have everything I need in a phone, the only deal breaker for me would be if the 5700 would have a smaller screen, look what they did to the 7500's display, made it smaller than the 7400, how could they do that? I just hope there will be some 9000's left if I realize the 5700 isn't the one. But Sanyo may also have more than one phone to look at in the near future as well.

Something that I've noticed is that 8 years ago, when I had the 3500, it had everything I needed. Everything else was a luxury. Now, I feel the same as you about the 9000 - it has everything I need, plus a few luxuries. Phone capabilities is an obvious one, but the ability to record as much audio as my card allows is a definate necessity, as I'm a pianist and if I have an idea, I want to be able to set my phone down and record what I'm playing. Unfortunately with the Samsungs, they can only record in 1 minute clips. That's just one example, but it's interesting at how luxuries become necessities. =)

In 10 years I wonder what will be a neccesity then. Intersting...

Well, it might come to this, if you haven't seen this already, what constitutes Luxuries and necessities will still be up to the individual!
