You have to trick the system for now. Go into the phone list and click on the MM9000, then go to the address line and change the 9000 part to 7500. Pictures and all the specs come up, but it shows out of stock!

Edit:

Oh snap! 30 minute video clips!

Shoot digital pictures with the built–in 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom lens; use the built-in camcorder to record up to 30-minute video clips.

But alas, the voice memo thing is still ONLY 72 seconds :/

Edit Again: Mods, ya'll probably wanna move this post to the Official 7500 thread or just lock it! :D

That is also what I am thinking but with the 7500 supposibly have 70+ MB of memory, it could be possibly... although the quality would probably suffer...

$379.00 full price for this phone makes NO sense and how is it evenly comparable to the Sanyo 9000......this phone should be market at full price at $329.00 ...better yet...$299.00

I have a 9000 and yea 379.99 is allot for the 7500 but then again 70 mb for internal memory is quite allot and something to look at, so you cant shoot them down for doin so, and besides the 9000 is going to be discontinued, so i guess the 7500 is going to be sanyos top fone in sprint for a while until sanyo comes out with an official minisd fone, i like the 7500

Go back to the Sanyo site and click on the "Specifications" link. It will bring up the pdf spec sheet which confirms that it is not QVGA. I think they may have cut and pasted from the 9000 and forgot to change that on the main page.

I personally can confirm that it is NOT QVGA. I wish it had it though... the screen is physically smaller than the 7400, so it looks like it could be high res... not so though.

Ohhh.. I LOVE Ev-DO... using Orb mainly (with some web surfing with the Opera Mini client and regular browser), I've used 72,432k in the past twelve hours or so... It was awesome to just be relaxing and watching King of the Hill on FX :)

Edit: Although my life time is only 15 minutes! hehe! :D

I've yet to find a real big use for the widescreen on the outside (except for displaying more text info which is kinda cool)... it is weird whenever the flip is closed in picture mode.... only the middle part of the widescreen is used... plus when it is closed, the video ringer that it came with as well as streaming video are not shown....

Ohhh.. when in the Sprint music store and listening to some music with the flip closed, the Ready Link button acts like a "next song" button.

This phone is roughly the size of a 8300... although being rugged, small and sturdy it seems very nice... Part of me misses the 7400 with how it was bigger and had a larger screen, but after a while, the 7500 seems kinda convient...

The blue is nice... although it becomes a bit dark at the edges around the end button and camera button...

My main complaint is that I so far cannot transfer songs via a data cable... I can use it for tethering... I just did a speed test and to make sure that it just wasn't the cable. My speed result was 68.8 kbyte/sec (about 550 kbits/sec) down and 12.8 (103 kbits :) ) kbyte/sec... not bad! But seriously, the phone supposibly supports non-drm WMA, AAC and MP3 according to Sanyo's website... I'm hoping that isn't a typo! Until then, I attempting to transfer them via m4a/GCD... but they'd all end up as ring tones...

Clash

Some of the pictures I may blame on the weather, movement of hand.. hehe, but then again, those are excuses. The pictures when scaled down a bit didn't look so bad and actually fairly decent. I guess the whole 1.3 MP thing is so that it'll look decent when scaled down...

Oh, the speakerphone is Sanyo loud!

Not sure whether it is full duplex. I tried it and it seemed like that, BUT I could've sworn I heard it cut out once or tice. I'm gonna try to do some actual testing on that tomorrow.

Oh, and with all of the music schenanigans, I've resorted to uploading AAC files via the net and they are played as ringers... its a good thing that Ev-DO is fairly fast... :)

Clash
12-09-2005, 03:04 AM
I've managed to fill up all but 3,526Kbyte of space..... Ev-DO is great :)

So far, I've used 134MB of data within 15 hours of getting the phone and have only used 18 minutes... I think I'm gonna cut down on data consumption now that I've got my 20 AAC ringers, err, songs on the phone :) (Plus the 4 that I have )

Apparently I now only have space for ten (10) 1.3MP pictures... Thank goodness for picture mail! :D

So, 24 songs, space for 10 1.3 MP pictures, Orb and Ev-DO is making me a happy camper :)

just called local sprint store, they have blades in, no a920s or 7500s. i recognized the worker that answered, she won a 5600 and didnt know what it was when won it, and wants the 7500 when it comes out. special ppl here in owensboro, ky

i work at radioshack, my manager just called me and asked if we have the 7500 yet in our own store. ok now yall...im sittin here at home, on my off day. hes at the store, ok. and calls me from work, where hes at, to ask about a phone he doesnt know if we have. then i say god no, i wish, it just got released a few days ago. he said ok, well sprint said were gonna be the first ones to carry it. im like, ***....ok, sure. then he asks me which phone i wanted and y, and i tell him bout the a920 and the memory card slot, and blade lacking it, and the 70mb of internal memory in the 7500, and hes like, ok, bye. i guess wantin to further his product knowledge from his own employee, lol. (i didnt even get a chance to get into the changable themes) this is a guy who has a 6100, and is eager for us to drop verizon and switch to cingular which all radioshacks are doin jan 1st.

So is it confirmed that this phone doesn't support any sort of file transfer/mass storage function? I'm wanting the phone more everyday, but the price and now this. I guess sprint wants us to use this phone for downloading music from them...

I was thinking the same thing but last week I dropped my phone while cleaning the sleet and freezing rain off of my car so that I could go to work. I didnt realize it until I was on the way to work that my phone was not in my holster. I thought that I may not have put it in my holster and just forgot it. When I got off I found it lying in the street by my mail box where I park my car. It lay there all day getting rained and sleeted on plus it got ran over by me possibly when I left that morning or the mailman or both of us. It still works perfectly though but it has a lot off scratches and dents on the back of the phone from being run over. It is hard for me to keep a phone that has even 1 scratch.

I wasn't really impressed with the 7500 I played with it last night when I got my 9000, the phone itself is very small. The screen inside if it was bigger those new themes would really make a difference. Maybe it will appeal to some but qvga is the only way to go.

Saw the 7500 in person today while I was looking for some a900 accessories.

It's really small and most people will like that. The screen isn't so bad. Not a bad looking for either.

I really think I want this phone. I haven’t gotten to play with one yet. I plan on getting it but there’s some things I’d like to know about it from those of you lucky ones who have it.
Does it MMS retrieval of pictures?
I heard of the 9000 having an issue with if a picture has txt with it you can only get a thumbnail of it; but when it doesn’t have text you can view it full size. Does the 7500 have the same bug?
Does it have a limited number of pictures you can have in the Inbox (and if so, how many)?
Can you forward pictures you receive from others using the phone’s address book; as opposed to the current way have when you forward you have to actually type in the phone # or address to forward to.
When you assign a photo ID does it show in the address book by the name?
Can you Add AND remove words from T9 (is there a menu for this)?
Does the “themes” change menu settings and all, and can you get more than the original 3?
Can MP3’s be used as ringers in addition to the normal MIDI, AAC, and QCP ringers (and if so can you use a full length song)?
Does it have the Select & Copy/Paste feature for text?
Does it have the Vibrate-ID feature?
What Fun-Frames and picture-features (negative, black & white, etc) it has for the camera?

I know that seems like a huge list, but these are the things I think about, lol. Any info at all would be appreciated, thanks!

I'll try to answer some of them. :)

1. Yes, it has MMS.
2. Nope, it does not have that issue.
3. Don't know yet.
4. Yes.
5. Yes.
6. Yes, I *think* so. I've seen it somewhere, fiddling around with the phone. Can't remember where anymore. I don't read manuals.
7. No and they're downloadable, so yeah you can have more than those.
8. I don't know, but I did full length on my 8200, so.... :)
9. Don't know.
10. Don't know
11. Color-Tones

Another quick question. Can it SEND sms while in digital roam? My 7400 can recive in digital roam due to Sprint's network changes, but it cannot send because the firmware is programmed to not ever try (it prompts you to send later, but does not attempt to send). I would imagine the 7500 doesn't have this programmed in limitation.

I guess mainly because I'm used to Sanyo phones, but here's the problems I had with the samsung a-900(the Blade). 1) The cover for the charging port and for the headphone jack are both "tethered" to the phone by little nylon lines. They get in the way when you try to either plug in the headset or the charger. You have to literally hold them back with your other hand to use either port, and I really think that their going to be the first thing to eventually break and fall off, but my main concern was
2) BATTERY LIFE- I plug my phone in each night when I go to bed. I've always done this ever since I've been with Spring. Normally I have no problem with the battery lasting me througout the following day no matter how long I talk. With the Samsung "Blade" my battery would need recharging again by 3pm the next day. This thing sucks batteries!! My Sanyo 7500 remains fully charged most of the day and even by nightfall there's still one or two bars left. 3) the "speakerphone" is not user friendly. You have to go into the menu under voice services to turn the speakerphone on initially. Then each time you want to use it when you're calling someone you must hit the "option" key on the phone and then hit"speaker phone on". When you're driving this can be a hassle. My Sanyo gets excellent reception, the speaker phone is activated on or off by one button in the center of the phone as you're talking and it also has the ev-do technical improvements that the Samsung had. Also I found I did not like using a "pouch" to carry my phone, which required me to flip open the top and pull my phone out. With the Samsung you have no other option if you want a case for it. Before I had the Samsung I had a Sanyo 7400 which I used for two years and loved it.

I've never had a Samsung, but from the ones I've played with and looked at, I have to say that Samsungs are NOT intuitive in the least. I'm not going to get into the holy-war debates about what's better quality; sanyo or samsung; but i can say that its so easy to learn how to use every sanyo i've ever had. things makes sense, they're easy to figure out and use repeatedly. seems like much more thought has ben put into how the phone will be used and how to make it easy and practical; both in the physical hardware of it and the software user interface. I don't think i'll ever get a non-sanyo phone

Thanks for your input. If there's one thing I've noticed by reading this forum, it's that Samsung seems a bit more interested in style, eye appeal, and aesthetics, when Sanyo seems to be more into ease of use, funtionality, reliablity, and just less buggy in general. Some reviews I've read have even tagged the 9000 as "Ugly in and out." First of all I don't think that phone is ugly at all, and even if I did, I would prefer that phone over some buggy 'Glitz and Glam' Samsung anyday. I will say that I saw and held the a900 for the first time just last night at Radio Shack, and I must say I was impressed with the looks and feel of the phone for sure, but read far to many negative threads on it to even think about actually getting it. If the a900 was a Sanyo product with a memory slot, I'd probably be all over it. I've had the 7400 for almost a year, and like you, I love it to, I'm looking forward to Sanyo's next high end offering. I understand the 7500 is quite sweet as well, good luck with it.

Yeah, you're right about the Samsungs menu/navigation system, my freind wanted to upgrade, so I brought him to Radio Shack, where my buddy works, to hook him up. He really didn't know anything about phones, his current phone was a totally beat up Nokia candybar deal with a screen that was so cracked you couldn't even see it. I highly recomended the Sanyo 8200, a cam phone that was real cheap, good size screen, that I got for another buddy of mine. (None of my friends give a hoot for fancy high end phones/features much less spend the bucks for it) Well, they didn't carry them anymore, and I noticed they had the 8300 there, which was alot more, but he would probably love it. He backed down saying it was to expensive. He ended up getting some $29.00 Samsung thing, can't remember what it was, small, rounded, and dark blue color. He wanted me to show him all the tricks on how to do this and that, how to get to Google, store email addresses, the whole deal, I said sure, no problem. Well let me tell ya, I was in for a learning experience myself! He's like.. "I thought you knew how to do all this stuff" I said "I do...... but geeezzzz...." I eventually got some of it down, but yeah, it seems I had to do 1 or more steps to do the same thing my Sanyo does. This is another reason way I lean towards Sanyo, besides the other reasons. Oh yeah, and the browser on that thing was SO slow, Sanyo's Netfront browser is way better. Of course, I guess if you were always a Samsung user, their UI seems just as easy as we feel our Sanyo's are eh?

I have been mostly a sanyo user, but have ventured back to samsung and truly they are no different as far as ease of use. Samsungs are IMO the better UI, but then again When you are used to one it's hard to change to another unless you want to. I have both now sanyo 9000 and samsungs a940 and a900. I really like all three my sanyo is nice a little faster but the samsungs are better for customizing all aspects of the phone. Sanyo people can learn samsung just as samsung people can learn sanyo. It isn't that big of a deal. It's just like quiting an addiction you first have to want to quit.

Sanyo's are hard to use, especially when you get far into the menu interface, to change settings (sounds, display). The lists are too large and things get burried under eachother. Rich Brome from PhoneScoop agrees. Read his Sanyo 5600 review.

Oh yeah, and the browser on that thing was SO slow, Sanyo's Netfront browser is way better. Of course, I guess if you were always a Samsung user, their UI seems just as easy as we feel our Sanyo's are eh?

Sanyo 8200? That phone has possibly the worst incarnation of any interface on a Sprint phone, ever. Not only is it the hardest Sanyo interface to navigate in, it looks just plain terrible. Even years older lg/se/samsung phones had better looking, more intuitive interfaces. Not only that, but it had a small small screen for the flips size as wel as the terrible Sanyo earpiece. What kind of friend reccomends something like that over a newer, better, 8300?? Anyways, the A740 is a smaller phone and defenitely not as good feature wise as the 8300, and it has a dumb STN screen, and dumb pastel colors for the interface, but the menus are still better layed out than the 8300s. If you attempt to compare the 9000s interface to an a940/920s, your in for a shocker. Go ahead, see for yourself.

Well, Its almost 2006.
When a phone is lacking external storage and blue-tooth, it is not worth $370 or $200.

Like I said before, my friends simply don't care for the fancy latest greatest stuff, I may have been wrong with the Sanyo model (8200) that I got for a previous friend, let me just say he was very happy with it, whatever it was, and that's all that really matters eh? So I thought I'd get my other freind the same model, but they didn't carry them anymore, he didn't want to spend the bucks on the 8300, (which was my highest recomendation of all, I didn't even notice it was there at first) and when I said he picked a Samsung, I was wrong, he picked a small LG phone, the one I tried to help him on, and it was a horror compared to my 7400 to navigate thru, and one of the slowest phones I've ever come across, but still better than his ancient candybar nokia which did nothing except barely make a call, so it's all good. Not everyone on the planet is a full blown phone geek who studies this stuff day in and day out, they just want something that's hopefully a bit better than whatever they had last, and they go on their way

I agree, and said the same thing before, whatever you are used to, of course it will seem easy. I did think I read somewhere that Sprint has been trying to integrate Sanyo and Samsungs Menu's/UI's so there is less of a difference between them, don't know if that is true, or if anyone has noticed this.

just thought of another 7500 question I have (hoping to get the phone this week). What happens if you send just text to your pm.sprint.com address? does it come up just as txt (like SMS). On older phones even if the content is just text it sends you a link to your PM account (pretty much what shortmail was). I would think you would get the text, since 1) you don't get links to your pm account anymore anyhow, 2) the MMS protocal supports handeling of text as well as multi-media content; if its implimented fully.
Anyone try this yet?

So true...the LG 125/225/325's interfaces are the slowest around. Like a two second delay to respond to keypresses...Ridiculous.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to connect this to your PC to transfer files (wallpapers, mp3's) via the supplied data cable. Are there drivers or programs to download? I can't explain why Sanyo would include a data cable without any software to support it. Very strange.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the way we're supposed to is via that backup program. but I’m thinking it was a rush on the software and there's a bug in it that it doesn't detect the phone properly. It’s unlikely that all of us would be having the same problem just by coincidence. So basically it looks like they released the software to appease the masses, but in practicality its useless until they come out with an update :irked: . I’m looking for 3rd party software, but no luck. phone seems to be too new.

I thought the connection manager was for using the phone as a modem?
Both the connection manager and music store backup seem to install the drivers properly, i think its the music store backup though just can't detect it. this is VERY disappointing. I think its kinda of unprofessional of Sprint/Sanyo to release a high-end, and rather expensive phone, that simply comes with a cable and no software or instructions on how to use it. it shouldn't be this difficult

LOL, i know it, i've been drooling for weeks over it. i'm just really disappointed with the media player. all it plays is pay-for-content. and as of yet there's no way to put your own music on it to play in the "music store". i expected the media player to be like the 9000 and have access to anything on the file system and also to do visualizations when it plays music. That is how the 9000 works, right????

I know you've been clamoring about this phone, but so what, things can change, eh? But I tell ya, if you can get past the difference in the looks dept, since you like the looks of the 7500 so much, I would try the 9000, WAY better phone IMO, WAY bigger QVGA display, mini SD, you know all this stuff, and for the same price, I would think these 2 features alone would make you forget rather quickly about the difference in looks, (personally, I never thought the 9000 looked bad at all) Anyway, to each their own, but it seems the 9000 trumps the 7500 in at least these two major features mentioned, especially since they cost the same.

not realy mass storage; just looking to be able to play MP3's on it like it says its capable of. its marketed as having an MP3 player built in, but the feature seems rather elusive and not as functional as it should/could be. Here is a description of what I did to get it working.

1) I installed Sprint Connection Manager from http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/index.jsp
This was suppose to install the drivers automatically but I had a problem with one of the drivers so I installed them manually from a Sanyo directory that I found under Program Files. When I finally got my drivers installed properly I had two devices in device manager (Sanyo USB Phone and Sanyo Serial Port).

2) In the settings dialog in Bitpim, I manually selected the MM-8300 and the Com port that the Sanyo Serial Port device is assigned.

3) Using the Get Phone Data feature in Bitpim, I was able to get to phone numbers and pictures in my phone.

I have still not figured out how to write numbers to my phone and am eager to hear from anyone who has figured out how to write numbers to this phone.

duanea - thanks for the reply. I found the drivers at the Sanyo web site, a file called sanyo_usb_drivers.zip. So far I have not been successful at installing this driver under windows 98se (and I read the windows 98 troubleshooting section) but will keep trying. Now I know to look for Sanyo USB phone and Sanyo Serial Port in device manager as an indicator of a successful install. I have Bitpim installed now so as soon as I can get the Sanyo driver properly installed it sounds like I will be able to transfer pictures from the phone.

Sanyo and/or Sprint should have really included a CD with the drivers and some sort of data transfer software with this phone, especially since it doesn't have a removable memory card like the 9000. In fact I was told by the Sprint salesperson that I would be able to transfer pictures from the phone to my PC using the included cable. I should have asked them to demonstrate this feature at the store!

duanea, are you running windows XP? I see the connection manager for usb cables under the windows XP choices, it says it has the drivers for mm-7500. But I am running windows 98se, and under those options that connection manager is not listed.

I do have the usb drivers from the Sanyo web site, there is a win9x folder with 3 files in it: mdmsanyo.inf, mdmspcssp.inf and Sanyomdm98.inf. But when I try to install these it says wrong driver for the device. I get a Sanyo USB phone showing in device manager with a yellow ? next to it and never get the Sanyo serial port to show up.

Alright! But a little disclaimer: I am in no way, shape or form trying to unfairly harp on the A900. It was a great phone but it has some issues. The most annoying was the poor battery life. I can't count how many times my conversations were interrupted by the low battery beeping (that's on all samsungs) and then I would plug the charger in the awkwardly positioned charging slot and try to talk on the phone at the same time but it would become disengaged constantly. I need a phone to work and be dependable.

For starters:

+'s and things just done right:

-battery life: seems like it's going to be solid, esp. coming from the Blade where I had to carry the charger around everywhere like an oxygen tank

-earpiece: Sanyo has followed on the heels of the 5600 and 9000 with the excellent earpiece. Not too bassy or too tinney; just right!

-click hinge! : Sanyo has brought back their click hinge and has merged it with their more robust hinge design. Very nice and satisfying every time you open or close the flip.

-improved hinge design: on the 5600 and 9000 we saw the 90 degree angle on the hinge/back of the phone and that made for an uncomfortable experience, esp. given the size of the phone. Sanyo has opted to round out that sharp edge and it feels great.

-Excellent reception: the A900 for as great as it was, had only average reception and the bars still fluctuated wildly at times even with the YL10 SW upgrade. The 7500 is getting me 1-2 bars more without the antenna extended.

-Backlighting on keypad: very nice and bright blue! I'll admit the styling of the keypad in the stock photo's makes it look pretty bland, but with the bright blue backlight coming through with no dark spots, it looks pretty cool.

These are my first impressions, as I use it more fully I will post a review in the Reviews Section.

do you like your phone, and why?

I have a A920 - I was told it was easy to transfer data between the TF Card and the phone, but I have found transfering data is near, nigh, impossible... the USB cable it comes with is worthless...

I have been told the 7500 is easy to work with and transfer data.... true?

I wish I could have gone the 9000 route, but now it is too late for that....

I want a phone that takes decent pictures (so not the 8300), I can easily work with on the computer (ringtones, pictures, etc)... I'm still in my 14 days, so I need to figure something out fast - I'm dealing with Sprint Online here, because the local store stinks on selection of phones - they are convinced the 8300 is the end all....

The MM-7500 is an ok phone. But with the 70 MB of memory, its shared between Camera, Camcorder, Picture Mail, My Content, and Music. The average size of a music file downloaded from the Sprint Music Store is 1 MB. If all 70 MB of memory is available, the phone can store approximately 70 songs. Thats if there are no pictures stored etc. The handset does allow you to make backup copies of d/l songs from the Sprint Music store. The phone does connect to the computer better than the Samsungs do. My choice would be the 9000, but as you said it was to late! :frustrate

I've been using my 7500 for a while now, and coming from a 7400, it took a little getting used to at first because it is a bit smaller..
Once that was done, the phone is great. The pictures are 20x better than what they were on the 7400. I've used the pic-bridge with the phone and it works great.

I never considered the 9000 because to me, all it is is a recycled 5600. So it was down to the blade and the 7500, with the 7500 winning because of all the features, sturdiness (and it is a solid phone), and the internal storage.

To me once I switch to the 9000 there was no going back to the 7500
the 9000 is far better on reception, storage, screen size - turn your 7500 (176x220) sideways and thats how wide the 9000 (240 x 320) screen is but the phone is much bigger to and that can be what some may not like.

I absolutely love My 7500!
All it does is improve upon the original.
The only flaw is the smaller screen size and the stupid missed alerts thing instead of just showing what came in with a V,T, or P.

Sprague: I'm running windows 98SE and it is impossible to get any pictures or other data off the 7500 using the supplied USB cable, because there are no drivers for the phone that will work with win98SE. There is nothing supplied with the phone other than a cable, and no instructions on how to use it. One person so far has managed to get it to work with Bitpim and Windows XP, but it was not easy. Other than this one problem I think the 7500 is a great phone.

Hi, I just received my Sanyo MM 7500 and getting ready to switch my number. Now there are a couple of questions I have
1. Where can I find a current driver so my Labtop recognizes the phone as a modem ( I had a Sanyo MM 7400 before but I guess it uses a different driver because my new MM 7500 doesn't get recognized) Any place where I can download a driver?
2. Was anyone successful to get the phone working with BitPim?

I was told by sprint technical dept that you have to download a sanyo driver not the connection manager, but sanyo doesnt offer the driver on it's website you have to call sanyo to see if they have it if not she told me i have to buy from the music store only. that sucks

i went and instlled the bkup utility from sanyo.com then installed it first it didnt work then i reinstalled it and it did work once it reconized my phone i clicked on add to phone then went to documents & settings in the open file box found my songs picked the ones i wanted and uploaded i hv like 9 songs for free on my phone and they sound great it does reduce your memory though

thats why i tend to think its a bug in the Music Store software. the driver seems fine, but the software cannot detect it. I think they rushed it out the door and plan on "patching" it later.

I've been able to get the phone working on bitpim using the method shown here....however I can't figure out how to get my own ringers on there. I've got the phone to go as far as PC Sync mode and the little message comes up...but past that I cant' get the ringers I upload to it to actually show up. Is there any way to do this at the moment, or is it still unknown? This was one of the main reasons I got this phone and I"m a little dissapointed that I can't use this feature right of the bat. The one custom ring tone I do have is from a service I used to send the link to myself. That's fine but I'd rather cut out the middle man, especially since I'm not gonna have internet access on this phone for too much longer. Any help would be much appreciated.

This might help.

I had the same trouble getting my WinXP computer to recognise my phone. In Device Manager, I had 2 exclamation marks under Other Devices. I don't use BitPim.

After trying everything I could think of to get it to work, I revisited my original FutureDial generic USB driver that they have posted on their web site. The 7500 is still so new that they don't support it yet, so I figured I try using the basic USB drivers they offer. Go to http://www.futuredial.com/registration/Download.aspx. , then use the "No serial number or using non-FutureDial software?" option they show there. I used it because my phone is not supported yet for the FutureDial Suite.

After the USB software install, I had the Found New Hardware prompt pop up. For both exclamation marks listed in Device manager, I had to point the above hardware prompt to the folder I installed the USB driver in. Once I did that, it recognised my phone as a Sanyo phone, and installed the drivers for it, under the categories of "Modems" (shows Sanyo USB Phone), and "Ports" (shows Sanyo Serial Port (Com4)) Once it showed that, I was able to use my FutureDial software, albeit in a limited fashion, to move data using the Serial Port option.

Now when I plug in my phone, it recognises it each time in this manner.

Well, I spent 5 hours researching all this, and I guess the 7500 is what I will go with. I was really hoping for mini sd or something similar, and would like a larger screen, but since it is listed on the telenav site, and most reviews seem positive... I was going for the mm9000, but that seems out now. Things I need most in a phone other then calling people, are, loudness, clarity (im a little tone deaf), Telenav ( I get lost everyday), mp3 ringtones would be awesome (I listen to music no one listens too), and ruggedness. Now I just have to find a real good dash mount for this phone for my truck. Am I making a mistake with this phone?

this may or may not be why many of you are unabe to get the sprint music computer software to work. When you install the software, and it asks you to highlight your phone during driver installation, it appears as though it is, but is in fact not. you must manually click the phone, and then continue the installation. i did it the right way (haha as i am saying) and it worked, my buddy did it the wrong way (assuming it was already highlighted as it appears) and he suffered the same issues many of you'll did too.

hope this helps!

That was the most excellent advice ever. I've also gotten the BitPim to work with my MM7500 using this method. I chose MM8300 from the drop down menu and it synched on Port 5. When the images loaded I was overjoyed but my excitememnt didn't last long until I double-clicked on an image and it opened Paint shop Pro, but nothing loaded. Frustrated, I right-clicked on one of the pictures and did a Save-As and BitPim gave me an exception. The only thing that worked was Right Click and copy, then paste it to desktop or wherever. Once on desktop, i can open the image.

Haven't tried anything else but the images so far because I gotta get going, but I'll give it a shot later on tonight. ;)

Umm, I think the last few posts strayed away a little, but anyways. I'm sort of looking forward to it the Katana. I mean, it might not be the most attractive phone but it doesn't seem to me that Sanyo neccesaril goes for the best looking device. It seems that their primary focus is and has always been praticality with functionality, period. And just like a lot of things, it will inevitably grow on. And whose to say that this IS what the phone will look like. The pictures are fairly blurry and may not do an justice to the real thing. I mean, maybe I have a bias because I love Sanyo. I'd take and 8300, as simple as it is, over the darn "Blade" anyday. If the rumors are correct about it being and entry level phone, then when have to keep in mind that the primary goal of Sanyo is to simple make the phone usable for the price conscious consumer. Also, keep in mind that the RAZR is fairly entry level as well. The only thing that may help it stand out is bluetooth. Other than that, all of the features are pretty much the same as every other entry level Moto before it. In my opinion, the $300+ price tag was only merited because everyone was so infatuated with it being so slim and pretty good-looking. But I am almost willing to bet the functionality of the Katana will blow tha of the RAZR out of the water....

I think that's it.

The 8300 was fine (had it for the 2 week trial) but the 7500 allows use on the evdo network which I love. Other than that the 7500 seems like it may be able to take a bit more abuse.
