On my MM-9000, I just noticed that a contact's name can be no longer than 16 letters. This difficulty becomes much worse when combined with automatic-voice-recognition dialing.
Let's say that the name a contact is known by is Antoinette Gunnison. This is much longer than 16 letters, so a program like SnapSync will automatically truncate it to
Antoinette Gunni
But if I want to use voice recognition on her name, this truncated form is absurd. I will never remember to refer to her by a shortened last name.
If she commonly used a shorter form of her first name, I could use that. But she doesn't. So the best I can come up with is
Antonet Gunnison
I think that the phone's voice recognition will match that shortened name to the name I speak.
But my point is that this is all rather silly. The phone has many megs of storage. It should be able to handle names longer than 16 letters.
