The rep at the store says if phone is out of warranty there is a charge for firmware updates. Anyone know about this?

Hmmm... that may or may not be true, I wouldn't know. But by the time the phone is out of warranty (one year), the manufacturer has probably stopped supporting it anyway.

i just had it done to an old 3588i and they didnt charge me. ?

Yeah, I would think that it would be store, or even representative-dependent. There are people who have had under their screens cleaned for free, and those who have been charged $5 for it. Maybe this is like that. I've never owned a phone long enough to know. :rolleyes:

At any rate, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

if they try to charge you for a firmware updat, they are scamming you. firmware updates should be free

According to the Day 1 Playbook:

"Manufacturer prescribed maintenance (software updates) will be performed for the customer at no charge."

Every Sprint store needs to get this message.
