There are many members here that have bought phones from ebay. Some get burned, some don't. Like everything else, its a crap shoot. I'm sure some folks will chime in with buying tips for you soon or you can search the forums key word ebay.
Good Luck.

Best advice is to get the seller's ad showing no mention of any problems with the phone, pay with paypal and have the seller give you the ESN as the winning bidder so you can confirm it with customer care as being able to be activated. If it shows up in "not as advertised condition" then you are pretty much covered by paypal or the credit card you paid paypal with.

We have purchased several phones off Ebay in the past. The best thing to do is get the ESN of the phone before you bid on it and check that it can be activated. Also, make sure you're buying from someone with reputable feedback of 50 or more. Most of the reputable sellers show a picture of the ESN in the ad. Maybe we have been lucky, but we have never been burned.

:fingers: I hope it works out. I have gotten burned once, I bought a used lg, a couple years ago. and it stopped getting service after a week, 60.00 out the window. And this year I bought a LG 225, but we made sure it was brand new and could be activated. we didn't want to do the used thing again. But I did buy a samsung phone used also on ebay, and it cost fifteen dollars, and it did work fine, but it got very hot after a couple min so thats why we got the new one.

I have bought several phones off of eBay and never had any problems. As some of the others have indicated check out the offer before bidding. If something sounds to good to be true it probably is. Checkout the sellers feedback rating. If any negatives or very few then use caution. Use the option to ask seller a question and see the responce you get.

I strongly agree with this. Get the ESN before you bid. It's harder to get your money back then it is to not bid at all if you know it's bad in the first place. I have done both, bought and sold on ebay. Most of the time when I sell, I don't know the status and just put the esn in and leave it up to the bidder. The reason I don't know is because the phones are donated and their not just from Sprint. It would cost me more time to run around trying to figure out what phone goes with what. But yea check the ESN first.
Good luck. I just got an awesome deal on a Sanyo 8200 for my girlfriend off of ebay. :)
