Hi! I've read through a lot of posts, and can't seem to find these answers (admittedly, even with searching, I only looked through the first hundred or so! :) ).
1) I have EVDO service on my account, but even when I have the "EV" symbol in the top bar, when I start Internet Explorer, it says 'Connecting to SprintPCS Vision using cellular line #777." I thought EVDO was an "always on" data connection.
- Also, how do I disconnect it? After I use IE, and click on the connection icon in the top bar, it still says "connected." ...Doesn't this use battery power? Doesn't this interfere with calls and/or or other communication?
- How do I determine my data connection speed?
2) In order to send and receive mail through Outlook (my work e-mail), or Sprint PCS e-mail, right now I have to manually click on "Send/Receive."
- How can I change this to an automatically scheduled send/receive?
- I know for my work e-mail, "push" has to be enabled through my company's exchange server. What about the Sprint PCS mail? Is there any easy way to get it "pushed"?
3) With my old flip phone, I used to text message someone at their e-mail address, but the PPC-6700 says it can't do that. ...Is there a work-around for this?
THANK YOU to anyone who can help with any of these ?s!!

There are lots of registry hacks that are simple to do that can help out a lot to answer ur problem.
U will need a regedit app inorder to do this... a good one is Resco Explorer 2005(google it)

Having the "EV" symbol doesn't mean that you are connected to the net it, it mean that u are connected to an EVDO Tower and will get EVDO speeds when to connect. EVDO isn't always connected i don't know where u got that from. EVDO is broadband like speed.(depending on where you are)

Not sure about the battery life thing but here a reg hack to see how long u've been connected and a disconnection button
The Vision duration registry edit from the 6600 works on the 6700. This edit allows you to see the duration of your Vision connection along with a button to disconnect it. You see it in the bubble that is displayed when you tap the Vision icon.
Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value
Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:
Flags2 16 (0x00010)
When done, reset the device.

In Messaging
go to Menu --> Tools-->Options
go the the account u want to step up for automatic send/receive
go through the email setup and go to section (4/4)
click on Options
check the "connect and check for messages every"
set the amount of minutes you want
now just keep click next at the bottom till ur back at the options menu and ur done.
you go through and do this for how ever many accounts u want.
it will connect, automatically check for new messages and disconnect.

Would its just be easyer to send this person an email through ur email account and not get charge for it.

I was just thinking about how to disconnect PowerVision without having to turn off the phone and on again.

Prior to reading all the better ways as listed above. I simply went to the running Programs under Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs and ended all the tasks that used internet.
