:ohcrap: WoW, My eyes my eyes...

Actually I think the only one available in CDMA is the black one and no mention of who is going to carry it although interesting enough it does have BREW listed under details and only 30MB of available embedded user storage. On the other hand the GSM model sports Hot swappable TransFlash™ memory card...

no mention of JAVA is very ominous.

The only place Java is listed is under the pink and blue old version ones? with all the other old features. Then again maybe it is the one coming to Sprint, no EVDO as to not be in direct competition with the Samsung, I don't know...here is the info

Any way you repackage that thing it is still ugly. Until they rectify the massive bulge on the lower half of the flip and make the top and bottom more proportionate when open it is going to stay that way.

Couldn't you use an the CDMA RAZR on Sprint even if it's really intended for Verzion if you unlock it? I hope the RAZR comes to Sprint, Samsung's attempt is just a cheap low-blow, and the phone is horrendous to look at when compared to the RAZR.

No, sprint only activates sprint branded phones with ESNs in their database no unlocking with sprint buddy.

choices are good though. even those who are intent on choosing the BLADE over the RAZR should hope that the RAZR makes it to Sprint so they can tell all those people that call them "RAZR wannabes" that they chose the BLADE over the RAZR.

Yeah it would be nice if Sprint mixed in a few Moto's in their CDMA lineup. I work with Sprint users who are itching to switch to Cingular just to have it.

I'm sure many of those on this board hoping for the new Sammy will get this if Sprint actually got it.

As far as the articles go, it appears the JAVA enabled RAZR's will go to Cingular.

Moto had some issues with MIDP 2.0 on their CDMA Java phones. Those issues have been worked out, the RAZR never looked so good in java! I'm actually trying to score some pics of it. NEVER rule anything out until it arrives!

P.S. It looks as though TF is a no-go on the new slim-phones :( But that could change...

Logically, it is impossible to 'not rule out anything until it arrives'? What if it never arrives?

Anyways, since you true insiders are still not ruling it out, i won't either.

TF is a no-no on the A900 but I believe the RAZR V3c will have a TF card slot, I believe it may be under the battery due to lack of space. It would be nice if Sprint offered the both the RAZR and the BLADE although the RAZR will have TF which is a nice plus but I don't believe it has QVGA which the BLADE does.

And if Verizon/Sprint wanted microSD in their versions, they could very well have it. VZW turned it down so I guess it's up to Sprint now (if they even decide to carry it).

I think the RAZR would benefit the Sprint lineup. We need another Samsung like chocolate cake needs mustard. The Blade's design is derivative. The UI probably blows, as does reliability. I'm sure the web browser was obsolete in 2002, and Bluetooth will not work well at all.

Give me the real thing.

I personally think the Razr has the worst keypad I have ever seen.....It feels like a kids toy you would get in a 25 cent machine.....I just never got the hype on that thing....It was such a POS..........Besides, I would take a Sammy over a Motorola any day......Sure, if Sprint got Moto's it would be geat for business......But I still wouldn't buy one until they
learned hot to make a quality product......Being thin is not enough to get my money....I need more substance then that!

I too would like to see the RAZR released for Sprint, but I am very confident in Samsung making a great phone (BLADE). I used to be a Sanyo die-hard, but after getting the A790, I can easily say it is the most reliable, well-built phone I've ever used-and i've used 'em all-and it's made by Samsung. The web browser is decent, but could use some help.

I like the 'chocolate cake needs mustard' line

Actually, I love the RAZR's keypad- in fact, I found it a joy to use.

Keep in mind, Motorola still rates above Samsung in terms of quality, though still well below Nokia.

I thought the A790 had the same web browser as the A700, which has a miserable web browser.

CoreyTheGent
11-12-2005, 04:36 PM
According to JD & Power's latest customer satisfaction survey, it's actually the opposite with Samsung rated a few tiers above Motorola. I'd agree with this as Motorola still has plenty ways to go in terms of their quality control. With handsets such as T-Mobile's new V360 and Verizon's V3c that're looking to be pretty good, perhaps 2006 will be the year that Ed Zander's efforts start paying off.

I'm with eman on the RAZR's keypad, though. I don't think I could ever get used to it.

Matt

I used to think the same thing Cory, but the more I use the RAZR and it's keypad, the more I like it.

CoreyTheGent
11-12-2005, 05:29 PM
Lol, what're you doing with a Razr, Matt? Tell me what the keypad's been like, from beginning till now, if you could please.

Matt
11-12-2005, 05:33 PM
At first the leypad is very easy to misdial, but once you get used to the "hills and valleys" of it's texture and the "ribbing" around the numbers, it's quite easy to use. I got it from my friend and client who owns a wireless store. 50 bucks and my phone geeky self could not resist.

CoreyTheGent

That's one of the things I was reading about in the Phonescoop review (http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/samsung_2005/index.php?p=a91) of the A900. I thought the "Blade" would have a better keypad than the Razr, but apparently it's exactly the same except minus the ridging which separates the keys:

"Like the RAZR, the A900 employs a special ultra-flat keypad to achieve its thin profile. Like the RAZR, it does have tactile feedback - you can feel the keys "click" down when you press them - but like the RAZR, that feedback is not as good as on an average phone.

The flatness of the keypad doesn't allow for raised or contoured keys that would make them easier to feel apart from each other. On the RAZR, this is dealt with by adding raised rubber ridges between the keys. Unfortunately, the A900 has no equivalent feature, making it difficult to feel out each key without looking at the keypad. In fact, there is no physical separation at all between many of the keys, and the white horizontal lines between the number keys only help divide the keys visually, not ergonomically."

I'd have to try one long-term, myself. I sure don't want Verizon's highly overpriced V3c. Maybe I'll finally try one with T-Mobile or Cingular after the holiday pricedrops.

After leaving Sprint for Verizon you're now contemplating going to either T-mobile or Cingular? You're as loyal to your carrier as TO is to his team!

Anyways, I don't think you could make a keypad that's tougher to use than the RAZR's.

Another disadvantage of the RAZR's keypad: it's metal -- when it gets hot (if you leave it in the sun) and then close it, it can melt its image into your plastic LCD cover. I've seen this happen to several, but I see dead pixels on even more.

microSD=transflash. microSD is just the new industry standard name.

Why the hell would you leave your cell phone out in the sun? :| That's carelessness right there, not the phone's fault. Anyways, I found it funny everyone had their eyes on Whoreizon Wireless getting the V3c and then Alltel comes out with it first. The phone is very nice, worthy upgrade to the RAZR V3 and still striking.

The Samsung A900 looks boring and nondescript when compared to it.

Oh well. I would probably take the BLADE over the RAZR although I am not a huge fan of either Samsung or Motorola but then again it has been a while since I owned either. Oh well, since switching to a SmartPhone I don't know if I will ever go back to a regular phone. Something mindblowing might make me switch. Let's see what the new year will bring.

i think you'll be all over the 5700 like you were on the 5600, if you ever come back to dumbphones. Sanyo has to be watching Samsung's success with the A900, A920 and A940 very closely and i don't think they'll bow down that easily. The 7500 looks pretty good, UI-wise and feature-wise, but the form factor and physical design (small screen, weird front fascia), smaller overall size, limit its potential. So i look to the 5700 to be their savior.

That's too bad. Well in that case I really do hope Sprint (#) gets the RAZR (#). They'd be dumb not to.

why on earth would they be dumb not to?.. they already have a phone better than the RAZR..
and unlike you, I speak of experience having owned both phones.
I have owned the Razr and now the A900 and I am sorry to tell you but the A900 is just a superior phone. And I'm not talking about things here that are personal preference.
Im talking about things like, the phone being user-friendly, the actual build of the phone, speakerphone, mp3 capabilities, EV-DO, and yes i am going to say it, the keypad.
Now you say things like the a900 is ugly or it looks boring. newsflash, thats your personal opinion.
Now, from using the Razr for many months and goin to the A900 which I have only had for a couple weeks, I am sorry but it is MUCH easier to dial on the A900. The RAZR has the raised numbers which help, but on the A900 you can tell where the middle row of numbers is my indentations below the numbers. Point being, if you blind folded me and handing me each phone, I would have an easier time dialing on the A900.

I'm sorry but I take offense to people to try and defend the phone they have by pointing out things they PERSONALLY dont like about another phone.

im with you.. I think the Blade's keypad has more response to it then a RAZR.. and when it came down to It I chose the BLADE over the RAZR... I do not even remotely regret my decision one bit it is a great phone and I would never give it up unless Samsung will bring in an update around this time next year which I bet they will do..
yeah same with me if you blindfolded me I would have a much better time dialing with the Blade's keypad..
