This was precisely the nightmare I was afraid of. I ordered on Tuesday. My authorized reseller keeps assuring me that the phone is in stock and will be sent out, but it's just not getting shipped. I suspect that Sprint stores get first dibs on EV-DO phones, for the sake of the hard launch.

I think they shipped all the units to the stores and they will arrive this week. that is why the backorder is now in place.

that sucks, i hope you find your phone. Have you perhaps looked into Radio Shack, I saw the SKU listed here or on the other forum site. They sometimes get phones fast. I got my 8100 there before it was at the Sprint store.

Do you have ev-do coverage in your area? If not that may be why.

Good observation, that could be the reason why. But the stores should get these phones faster, they should be shipping these units out in volume the first they they become available. If the phones become available on Sunday, then they ship them out Monday and the stores should have them Tuesday. They should prepare better for a launch and not send 5 phones to a store too. You would think that they would want the handsets in place for when they launch the EV-DO, there will be less issues.

EV-DO is not available in my area, we're not even in a "future" power vision area here in Baton Rouge. So basically is you don't live in a huge city you won't be getting EV-DO for a year or maybe longer? Vision lauched nationwide, power vision sucks. Does this mean stores in my area won't have EV-DO phones at all? Why sell products you can't support right? :irked:

Anyway, I still want an a940.

It is a great phone, the motion sensor and the Voicetype work great, I couldn't tell you about the vision, I live in a live EV-DO area but this dang proxy password garbage is really, realy making me angry like HULK!!!

I know but I can't believe that it has been down so long. I want to see what this EV-DO access is all about. I am the only one out of my friends that is having this proxy issue. All my other friends can access vision just fine.

Tell me about it, they go to the Sprint Vision home page just fine. I even did an ESN swap to a 2300 to see if anything would change and that handset asked me for proxy auth. Anyhow, the A940 is a nice phone.

I knew this was coming. I ordered mine on 10/28 and got it on 11/1. Totally love it. SMS is great, external speaker playing music was much better then I expected, EVDO where available is excellent, the screen is beautiful, the RF is insane, the camera is way better than the 5600, I could go on and on.

I bought a 1G mini card from Amazon and loaded it with music, Family Guy and Seinfeld episodes. The stereo earphones you get are pretty damn good. I love the fact while listening to music if there's a call, you hit talk and away you go. Very pleased with it.

I placed my order for the 9000 early last week and have still received no communication on when I will receive it. It's unfortunate, but it does mean one thing, EV-DO is a glaring success with this initial launch which means support for the devices and services will remain.

You would think that the website would reflect the outage? should say "out of stock" do they use two differnet warehouses?

Did you try the store on 42nd and 6th? They had the demos of the 900 and 940 on display but with SOLD OUT signs. But that was last week. I was lucky enough to get the last 9000 at the Jersey City store last week.

Excellent phone. The best Sanyo has ever put out. It's not perfect but quite an improvement over the 5600. The pics come out great. Even in lower light settings, if you mess around with the settings and use the flash, you can get a decent shot. Ten times better than the 5600.

The only thing that would have made this phone absolutely perfect was bluetooth. But other than the phone is great. It was a no brainer over that Samsung. Don't get me wrong, the Samsung was pretty and all but nothing beats QVGA. Especially when web browsing using Opera Mini. BTW, Power Vision is great. I tested at 950 on dslreports.com Not bad.

Sanyo is listening. RF is better than ever. I'm sure bluetooth is on the horizon.

Wow! Ok, I place a order online yesterday morning, I called sprint last night and this morning, also emailed them yesterday. The rep said last night that when you order online it will never show in there system, it just ships. So I got the email response this morning and it said that I need to re-order b/c he doesn't see it (haha), I had to reread the email. I called this morning and they said that it doesn't show up when I order online. So I guess I will wait.

Russ, I ordered mine from Telesales the day it came out, and was given an order # over the phone...by the time it was in the system and I was able to track it, it had already been signed for by my doorman...I got the phone in less than 48 hours...I would hold tight for a couple of days, and then if you have not gotten it, call back for the tracking info...don't reorder yet unless you don't have an order or confirmation number...

Ya, I got what you got. I will wait. I just thought it was weird getting all different answers. Did they charge your credit card yet? REP said they charge when the phone leaves the warehouse.

This is an email I got from my authorized reseller today. I had ordered a Sanyo 9000 through him on Tuesday of last week.

Our system shows that there are 100 Sanyo 9000's in stock this morning and it should be shipped tonight or tomorrow night

The story from Sprint this morning is that

The warehouse expects no more Sanyo 9000 phones until late next week.

So if the warehouse gets them on Friday, November 18, we can begin to receive our orders on Monday, November 21.

After I ordered mine I didn't get any response. I called the next day and told it was pending. The day after that the phone was at my door step. It was still pending while I had it in my hands. I don't trust anything they say.

Ordered mine over the phone with Sprint this Tuesday (11 am). Received it 5 pm yesterday. The CSR said the phone was on backorder so I was suprised to see it sitting on my doorstep when I got home from work.

I've gone to my local sprint store about 4 times over the last 4 days, and every time I go, I'm told something different by a different rep. Calling customer service is of no use. In fact, the reps at my local store (east orlando) had NO IDEA what I was talking about when asked about the 9000 or the a940. They had no idea? ***?

One guy told me on Tuesday that they had some but were now sold out and they wouldn't get any more for 2 weeks. The next day, another guy told me they had some but had JUST SOLD OUT OF THEM THAT VERY DAY, and he didn't know when more would come. One guy looked at me like I was crazy, and his response was "Sanyo 9000? We're getting a new phone?" and today they told my husband that to check back after Christmas, they might get more by then.

WHATEVER.

Same thing happened to me the week people started getting the phones here...

I go to the sprint store and ask the first guy i see if they have any of the power vision phones. He looks at me like i'm speaking japanese and says "Power Vision??" then his collegue who has seen some freakin training (I work for indirect sprint and there's been pdf training on these phones and services for at least a month before they launched) tells me they will be in anytime this month but doesn't know when.

Just grinds my gears that those bstrds at sprint won't hire me!!!! :bang:

I just called, and the rep said she "pushed" my backordered 9000 order and that it would ship tomorrow. I'm not sure if she actually accomplished anything, but for all of you whose phones are backordered, it can't hurt to try.

Arggh! Didn't Sprint ever hear of First Come First Serve? As I mentioned earlier, my earnest pleas this morning were met with sympathy but nothing more.

I ordered on November 1, and Sprint began charging me for the new line on that date! If I finally receive the phone on November 21 as projected, my 14-day trial period will be long gone!

This may have happened to mine too. I did not want to "bother" Sprint again, but I did notice that magically, my new line and phone now appear on my Manage page on Sprint's Web site. Previously, although I was being billed for the line, it was not yet showing up on the Manage page because it was still in a Pending state.

I ordered on November 1.
