Is anyone on this board who lives in one of the test markets (Minneapolis, Reno, Austin or San Antonio) planning on getting this ESPN Mobile device/service when it is launched on November 1st?

I'm in Mpls and will definately check this thing out!

Would I have to change anything on my current plan to use this phone, currently have grandfathered vision?

I think you'd need to switch your service to ESPN from Sprint as ESPN Mobile is an MVNO that just uses the Sprint network for carriage. But your plan would be different probably.

BUT, you don't need to sign up to play around with it in the store and help us poor souls in CT out! :headbang2

Most specifically, is there anything that the phone offers other than the preloaded ESPN Mobile APP (which is new) and moded menus? If I'm correct in that the ESPN Mobile app will launch for Sprint customers in Dec or January, I'm trying to figure out what other benefits, if any, that the ESPN MVP phone offers over the Sanyo 9000 (same phone) other than moded menus.

Can you find this out for us? Pleeeeeeeeeze?

Even if plan setup is totally different, i'll still be taking a look at it to see what goodies are available!

Eh, I'll also check it at my local BB.... I am also gonna probably also play with the Sanyo 9000 next week.... hopefully I can figure out the main differences...

Edit: Although I am surprised that San Antonio is one of the test markets since a rep I talked to today said that Ev-DO is currently only around the airport.... I'm hoping that he is incorrect in this regard... and with San Antonio being a test market, I am guessing that he is...

Thanks for the support, Clash. I'm really looking forward to finding out what differences you can find yourself. That's really my biggest thing is finding out the differences between the ESPN MVNO and the Sprint 9000 services.

ANYTHING at all you can report is greatly appreciated. :headbang2

One think I was wondering last night. I'm fired up to get Sprint TV Ultimate when I get an EV-DO phone and I was wondering if that would be available on the ESPN MVNO as well, or if it's only streaming ESPN all the time.

Odd that ESPN wouldn't have had the test market in a place that was on the soft-launch list for EVDO this week.

I'm REALLY suprised CT is not a test market given that the whole state is listed for EV-DO coverage upon the soft launch, as well as the fact that ESPN's corporate headquarters is in CT. Oh well.

Let us know what you uncover!
