I'm posting this here, in the hopes someone else has run into the same problem. Nothing in Snapper's help or forums on it. I setup the demo (fully functional) of Snappermail on my Treo 650. Then set up my gmail account with all the info.

When I click to check mail, it connects and secures (get a padlock icon) then gives an error. In the log it says:

ACCOUNT: IMAP 4 Account 2
Incoming or outgoing mail server name for this account is blank. To to edit accounts to fix . . . .

I'm confused because: it's set up as a POP3 account, not IMap. And the server names for both incoming and outoing are there (pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com). There aren't any other accounts in Snappermail and none in Versamail.

Any thoughts/ideas on the cause?

Thanks.
Brent

Not to sound obvious, but did you read the instructions on the gmail/snapper websites on how to set up retrieving of gmail? It is not the most straight forward directions/steps (I had some error message problems when I first set up gmail on my treo 650 (not sure if it was the message you received).

Thanks for the info. I had read Snapper's manual and did review their online FAQs and setup info. So still hoping someone else has run into the same problem as above.

I figured you did, but I was just trying to "Brainstorm" for you :)

Thanks, rj. I do appreciate it. I have been known to overlook the obvious. But please don't tell anyone! :)

SnapperMail responded this a.m. to my email to them. On Snapper's main edit screen for the accounts on the T650, there's a checkbox for IMAP mail. The default is checked and it was hidden behind the highlighted POP account on the screen of the T650. Tapping on the screen to "unhighlight" the POP account and unchecking the IMAP box fixed the problem.

SnapperMail also gave me the option of running a diagnostic and submitting it to them, if the above didn't work. And that's for a not-yet customer. But great customer service and great technical support are big selling points for me. I'll put Snapper through the paces. But I'm probably going to be a customer based on this experience.
