A friend of mine was on Virgin Mobile. We were able to send and receive messages fine. She ported her number to T-Mobile. Ever since then she hasn't been able to receive my text messages, but I can receive hers. Other Sprint users that we know can't send messages to her either, but we receive her messages fine. She can receive messages from other T-Mobile and Metro PCS... haven't tried VZW or Cingular.
Any ideas?

Hey there Jag.
My mother has T-Mobile so I will give this a try tomorrow. Going to be difficult to try explaining to her how to get to her text messages, but I'll do my best! I know I sent her one when she first signed up and she did get it, but that was probably 6 or so months ago.

Hey Laur..... I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I have other friends on TMo and we can exchange messages fine. The only thing that's different in this case is that the number was ported from Virgin to TMo.

I'm having a problem sending to a T-Mobile customer in Chicago. I've sent to other T-mobile customers fine though. This number in Chicago is new, so it may have been a number that was previously a landline number and it needs some time to register? That's all I can think of. I sent an e-mail to support@telemessage.com (the support e-mail for text 2 landline that is given out on Sprint's site).

I am having the same problem, except I ported my number from Virgin Mobile to Sprint, and since then I have been unable to receive text messages from any non-Sprint phone. I, just as well, am able to send messages to anyone and they confirm receipt. I could receive text messages from Sprint phones, and from the internet. But so far my friends and family, all on various networks, have not been able to send me text messages. I think this has something to do with Virgin Mobile? Maybe they are complete in porting numbers for voice service, but still claim ownership to the texting domain? I have a feeling that the messages people send me get lost somewhere in a Virgin Mobile text message dump. :-(

My fiance, who is with Tmobile, has received every text message I have ever sent her. So, no problems here.

Sounds like a Virgin Mobile issue unfortunately. That's the one thing that's common in both of our cases. My friend said they could receive from people on different networks, but no one I knew on Sprint could text her. She ended up getting a new number, but before that I had to send messages to the phone's email addy (1234567890@tmomail.net or something like that) and she would get them that way. In your case you might have to tell your friends to send you text messages to your phone's email addy (1234567890@messaging.sprintpcs.com), or if it annoys u that much change your number :(
