One of the best apps is the pod2mob app - www.pod2mob.com. It plays podcasts. I have several news podcasts (like CNN hourly update, nightly news, etc) stored as my favorites.
I haven't seen any "free" news applications, but I would think there are some..... I don't think you really need a 'news app' though, there are plenty of news websites out there that you can simply browse.

I agree with Mad. I don't think there are any news-specific applications. There's Sprint TV Live & MobiTV, which both have news stations on them. There's an NY Times application, but that's pretty much worthless. If you want news on your phone, you're better off just using the web versions of the different news sites that are available. SU's WAP site has them all organized under one link.

You could also use something like www.bloglines.com/mobile and set it up with all the news sites you like to watch, then view them all from one location.

Laursifer put it well...use the WAP versions...many can be found at wap.sprintusers.com...
If there was a free app, it would be so they have you in their "walled garden." Use them because you have their app and everyone else gets forgotten.
AOL appears to have abandoned the "walled garden" business model...people want access to the whole web at any given time, not have their choices resricted...

I am confused about POD2MOD. Some of the podcasts are not updated. I went to NIGHTLINE and it was from August! ??? CNN's podcast is from Thursday.
Are there any video news out there? I'd like to get teh CNN broadcast (with video) a few times a day.
