I was considering buying a i930 yesterday. I went to Sprint's website to check it out and read the specs. Sounded good to me. I called all my local stores and nobody had any in stock. I did find one, in stock at a Sprint Store. I am going to pick it up tommorrow, however went I went back to Sprint's website today, the i930 isn't there anymore. What happened? Why did they pull it? I read in another thread that the i930 is going to be discontined indefinatly. Is this true? And why would they pull it just days after its release.
I dont know what to do now. Any help?

im thinking its because a lot of people ordered it...or they are updating specs...or they really did pull it from the site!...which would be messed up...a friend if mine has one and shes had no problems with it

Last I heard it was pulled. Sounds like costly repairs are being done already and Motorola ordered the recall from the shelves.

I spoke with a Tele-Sales Rep, yesterday and she told me that both Telesales and Websales are sold out of the i930 and are on back order. Thats why they took it off the site. She said that she didn't know when they would get some more. So they realeased the BB 7100i a day or two early, ( it wasn't supposed to be realeased untill 10/20 ) so she says...
PS: All the stores I called were also sold out. From what I am told its a hot seller with no returns. As soon as they get some in they sell within hours.

sometimes when there is a "shortage" or "everybody is on back order" that really means that there are some major changes happening to the phone

Yeah, thats true, lets just hope that it's not the case with this phone, and if it is hopefully for the better. But if it is discontinued then I guess I'll end up with the i870, if it ever get's released.

i870 should be out last week of October if not by Nov. 1st. I wonder if we are getting either of the two phones at Sprint Legacy Stores. I heard we weren't getting the i930 but we are getting the new Blackberry so I hope we get the i870.

Yup it's there : http://nextelonline.nextel.com/en/services/worldwide/intl_phones.shtml
I dont know why I couldn't see it before, maybe they just recently moved it there. Anyway, I still can't get a price on it. I called Telesales today and they told me the same story, Sold out, dont know when they will get more and since there's none is stock they can't give me a price on what it will cost. Oh well I guess I'll try back next week.

What is a "Sprint Legacy Store" ?
Is that just the name of a regular Sprint Store?
The BB 7100i, is out in my (Florida) market. But I couldn't figure out how to work it so I didn't buy it. It's sad when you can't figure out how to adjust the volume or change a ringtone on a phone. LOL. That's the main reason I have been waiting for the i930 or i870, they appear to be more user friendly.

Sprint Legacy Stores are Sprint Corporate stores that were "Sprint" stores before the merger. Same goes for Nextel Legacy Stores. Any knewly opened store would not be a legacy store.

Just so ya know - I'm a Sprint employee - There is no recall on the i930 at this point. The reason it is pulled is absolutely because of the backorder, and no other reason. If you look hard enough on the site, you can find a link to the i930 (Hint: Go to the Nextel Phones listing and scroll all the way to the bottom.) Hopefully they weill get a bigger batch in soon. Just wanted to quell any rumors - this seems to be asked more and more lately. :wavey:
BTW, I mean the Nextel listing on Sprint.com, not the Wirefly link that autopopulates ;)
Edit: Oh, btw, just to clarify in case some of you weren't aware, the i930 is for the legacy Nextel side of the company only. Sorry, Sprint PCS users. :p

What is the legacy side?
