View Full Version : Who Do I Call to Fix My Text Messaging

I have an A680 and some of my text messages come as normal text messages (ones from Yahoo, Google, etc) but msgs from my friends come in as short mails.

Given that my vision has worked about 50/50 this month and my short mail account even less frequently (am I the only one having this problem?), I'd like to get my text messages to all come in as just regular text messages.

I called *2 and the lady didn't have a clue what I was talking about and just gave me some BS answer. Who do I need to talk to if I want to get this fixed? Also, for clarity when I call what are the "correct" text messages called (the ones where I don't have to go onto vision).

Oh, call customer service from a landline and say "technical support". The lady that I put in my SMS trouble ticket did what she was supposed to do. I wanted to nuke this unwanted SMS message that comes in at noon every day. I don't get that any more, so I think this technical support lady did what she promised!!! (very cool!!!)

Now, all I want is the rest of the Sprint support world to get on the ball and do the same ... resolve issues that the company nuked up.

Does the A680 even support SMS sending?
I think its a shortmail only phone. the reason that you can get some messages as SMS (what you refere to as "correct" text) is that when these services send out the message, they send it in SMS format because its not meant to be replied to. But when a txt message gets sent from another phone to you, it gets rerouted to Shortmail via Sprint's gateway because your phone cannot send via SMS, and you would not be able to reply. So basically you cannnot fix this problem. The phone does not support SMS text messaging; you'd have to upgrade your phone.

the A680 is an SMS phone...not shortmail...thats very weird that you are still getting shortmail

oh, in that case it looks like they forgot to switch her over on thier end. can't they do that over the phone with customer service??

Well, a lot of times, customer service really doesn't know anything technical and farms you off anyway to technical support to resolve. The last technical issue that I had, the lady was really good. It's really too bad that the rest of customer service isn't like that. They are getting better, but still, long road to go.
