Haven't posted a review in a while. My .02 on the 4920
I've also had it about 2-3 months.
Good:
- Battery life - longest of any sprint phone. :woohoo: In fact, they don't even sell an extended battery, they consider the one it comes with to be extended.
- Buttons are raised & easy to press, yet the slight concave keypad design helps prevent accidental button presses most of the time.
- Reception - seems as good as any other Sanyo in low reception areas.
- Voice memo 50 min - but you can't record phone conversations :irked:
Bad:
- Screen - nearly unreadable in sunlight, (though the reduced brightness makes it much easier on the eyes at night, like in the car, vs TFT screens) and it does stay on while charging, oddly. Can't we get a nice high res TFT on a bar phone, like Sony Ericsson?
- Speakerphone isn't bad, but still not great. If I can use my powerbook as a full duplex, high quality speakerphone (ichat/aim), why not my PHONE?...
- Same cheap looking, scratchable silver finish.
- Irritating: the new "Level 1+Vibrate" ringer option & "1 Beep" (who uses that?) gets in the way of switching from volume 4 to vibrate. The Treo is the only one that ever got it right: a simple, dedicated switch on top to go between vibrate & ringer on.
- the leather swivel case is CRAP - absolute junk, has gotten in my way so many times, the phone gets caught on something, and pulls the seam stitching apart, and now sometimes falls out, right on the ground! :furious:
That brings me to my other issue with bar phones in general, I don't think they're as sanitary. Drop it on it's face, and then you later have that thing pressed to Your face. Flips, though they require an extra step, seem more protected and sanitary. Also, I think flips carry your voice better, since the mic is placed more optimally.
We'll see how the 4930 turns out, but I'll probably go back to my 7300 (with 1/3 the battery life).
