Ok. so here's my first time trying to come up with a decent review.
Short story: the 535 is a very good phone, but needs some tweeks and refinements

I wanted to upgrade from my 680 and be able to just carry one device with me instead of cell/palm/ipod combos. I didn't want the 650 or another PDA. So I first bought the Samsung A880. I liked it, but I only had it for a day. I had talked a friend a couple of months ago into buying the 535 when it first came out, and she was really happy with it. So I took the 880 back and got the 535.

I wanted a phone with a sd card slot, that could play mp3s/videos, had stereo sound, and had a good camera/camcorder. I couldn't see shelling out $500 yet for the A800, even though it's a great phone too with some flaws.

Mp3 and movie playback is smooth. The volume is loud enough for me, and the controls are easy to use. Some tweaks: playlist control, playback resume after a call or text message comes in instead of starting over from the beginning, basic equalizer, and true aac playback support. Oh and turn the screen off during playback! It's really annoying and battery draining....

The stereo sound is difficult for me to discern, and the 3D sound even more so. I bought a decent stereo headset and Sony EX71s and the sound is pretty good. Most streaming audio isn't in a high enough bitrate yet to warrent much more.

The camera is pretty good as well. I'm happy with the pictures and feel good about sharing them with my friends. I wish the camera had multishot and zoom at high reso.

The signal strength is ok, nothing to write home about. It doesn't switch into roaming mode easily in my opinion.

The speakerphone is pretty low at the low setting, but very loud one setting up. Be careful!

This phone has rebooted on my several times and seems to have a strange issue with the screensaver just going blank at least once a day, requiring a reboot. Possibly a firmware issue.

I am happy with this phone for now. If LG would address some of these issues with a software upgrade I think this phone could be a classic. Otherwise it will just be a stopgap until the next big thing.
