But, the 7300 does? And there isn't a way to Push-to-Talk between Sprint and Nextel phones.

You got a 7300? That thing is like a year and a half old.

How will the merger help?

Well, the way I see it, it will just give Sprint/Nextel more cashola to do more stuff - that and it will give Sprint oodles of new spectrum that Nextel is going to receive as part of the SMR rebanding deal.

No, either way.

iDEN phones can't roam off their network, and CDMA phones can't use the iDEN network.

I wonder if the question was putting iDEN panels on sprint towers and sprint panels in the iDEN towers to increase coverage for both users. The hardest part of getting coverage is getting the physical tower built, so now that its one company you would think they would start selecting high traffic poorly covered areas for "co-locating"

yeah thats if the towers are owned by the company, and if there are local towers there...its not cost effective to over saturate an area if there are many towers there already

True, But now that they're such a big company I wish they'd fix some of the coverage problems they have in the new-development areas in Phoenix...

This is a phenomenon that doesn't exist in other areas of the country... Phoenix is growing at a truly amazing rate - heck, we've had A 47% Increase In Home Prices In 12 Months!!! (Source (http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/15/real_estate/historic_home_price_gains/))

That and the number of new houses being built out here is staggering -- and Sprint just isn't keeping up with the new areas that are being built.

They have plenty of advance notice of new home construction (its not like they just spring up in a week!) And yet, there are still several new-areas that have little to NO coverage.

(Sorry for getting a little ranty.)
