I want to buy a Treo 650 for internet and Palm use only. Am I able to just sign a contract for an Unlimited Data Plan only with no voice plans. I will be using my other phone with Sprint for making my phone calls. I do not want to be paying $40.00 a month for a 450 minute calling plan on a phone I won't be calling on.

You can get a data only plan with Cingular, but it will be $45 for unlimited. That is the cheapest, as the $25 MEdia Net is only for regular phones w/ a calling plan.

Cingular's Data Connect Pricing (http://www.cingular.com/sbusiness/data_connect)

BTW, What Sprint calling plan do you have?

BTW, What Sprint calling plan do you have?
I have a Nokia 6225 with F&F 0-300 for $35.00 per month with the $15.00 vision package. The phone gets great service on analog networks wich I do have to call from time to time so having a only a Digital only phone would not work for me.

I am soon to be purchasing an iBook and would like to be able to utilize this service with the 650 as listed on this link. http://www.novamedia.de/ . It is only avaible with Cingular. So I was thinking about keeping my Sprint contract for my voice calling and open another account with Cingular with the 650 for my internet capabilities.

I don't understand what is so special about that site and what they are offering? With a Mac or PC your should be able to pair any phone (Bluetooth or cable) or PDA device and use the device as a modem, you just need the correct settings. And this goes for any carrier. Try searching around in the PDA Phone & Computer/PDA forums, and look around over a howardforums.com. :)

And the reason I asked about your plan was if you were on a family plan, you could add-a-line for $10 and your Vision would be $7.50 for that new line, much cheaper then $45. But you are looking at about $45 to change from the plan you have now to a family plan, plus you may loose some features on your exsisting Vision plan if you switched. I would search around a little more and ask some questions about tethering, and good luck.

I emailed Sprint about adding a line and they said I would have to update my plan to 500 minutes wich I knew, and I would need a $150 deposit for the extra line but I would be able to get the rebates on the 650. I am still checking the costs to see if it would be cheaper to just get a data plan with Cingular and have no deposit for the phone or add a line to my existing Sprint contract. Like I said, all the 650 will be used for is a PDA organizer and WebPro as well as iBook DUN access. I realize I can do that with sprint but I know they stand against it.
