I'm wondeirng if other users have experienced quite a lot of "skips" or "jitters" while playing their Sirius satellite radio. I notice it happens quite a lot, at least once every 30 seconds or so. Even during non-peak periods, although not as bad. Interestingly enough, my M-Spot radio did not do this, however, with that service it would just stop with the 'loading' message displayed, and then play catch-up.

I think all of us are in desperate need of EV-DO when it finally is fully released in 2006. Hopefully by the end of 4Q most of us will have it. :)

I was about to reply to another thread regarding Sirius until I saw this one. I just subscribed to Sirius about an hour ago. I'm having similar troubles - I can't get past about 30 seconds into a channel before I start getting the "loading" message - after about three of four of those the whole thing craps out and I get "M32 General Playback Error" and have to reload the channel. Then the cycle starts again. I was really excited about getting Sirius on my phone, but if it's not going to be dependable I'll have to ditch it. :irked:

Are you able to set the streaming rate on your phones? Depending on my signal I set mine as low as 32kbps to stream XM on my PPC6600. It does have problems when I set it to 64kbps. - sheureka

Yeah, it skips a lot, but I think this is a problem with their servers. Give them a week or two to smooth things out.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia PM6225: NOKIA-RH-27/V H125V1000.nep.0 UP.Browser/6.2.2.1.c.1.102 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

Mine's been pretty reliable. Every now and then i'll get a period where it just wants to skip like crazy. But that's only happened once or twice and reloading after a minute or two fixed it. Overall, i'm quite happy and impressed. The morning bus trip is a lot more enjoyable.

I hope my conditions change and I get more usable reception. I took my MM700 out with me to dinner with the wife and kids this evening to see if being in areas of better reception would help. I usually get only one bar at home, two if I go outside. Sirius seemed to perform a little better in areas of three or four bars, but it would still crap out after about a minute or two.

The only thing I can add here is that # of bars really has little to do with overall connection quality when it comes to "data".

For example, I can be in a "4" bar area and still have the same skips/jumps. But it seems to coincide with the time of day. For example, 12pm/5pm seem to be the hardest hit times during the weekdays. Weekends can be busy too, like even today (Saturday at 1pm). We're talking BANDWITH here folks. There simply isn't enough. It's not connection quality per se, it's more or less a bandwith issue. Too many people moving data at one time causes the whole system to bog down.

The key here would be the EV-DO when it is released. Even though most of us don't have EV-DO compatible phones, when it is finally rolled out, the bandwith issue should be resolved and we should see a remarkable jump in speed. These skips and jumps should be significantly reduced, if not eliminated.

But thanks, now at least I'm not the only one experiencing it!

sirius works fine on my 5600 and an 8300 that i have at work. i notice that most of the people having problems have 7400's maybe there is a problem with that handset.
